Almost everyone in Sichuan knows Liu Wencai, right? We grew up hearing his legends, like his extremely extravagant lifestyle and his penchant for eating duck webs [facepalm]. Visiting in person offered new insights. On one hand, as a large landowner, he inevitably relied on exploiting the common people to survive; on the other hand, his estate serves as a window into the architecture and lifestyle of the modern Republic of China era. There's a distinction between the old and new mansions. The manor generally refers to the old one, including Liu Wencai's estate, the Liu family ancestral home, and precious artifacts. The new mansions are Liu Wenhui's two residences. Relatively speaking, there's no need to buy a ticket to enter the new mansions; most people only visit the old one and that's it.
