Dazhao Temple is the most important royal temple in Hohhot and Inner Mongolia, and a must-see scenic spot when visiting Hohhot. The entire temple is magnificent and worth spending half a day visiting. The nearby Sai Shang Old Street is also worth a visit. The only downside is that it gets very crowded with tourists during the summer vacation.

This is my second time here, this time with my three-year-old. Since we've never seen such a large beach before, we had a lot of fun.
However, for adults, the other activities are all paid, so the value for money isn't quite right.
Today, Ordos is increasingly green, and it's rare to find such a small patch of desert left for tourists to experience. There are plenty of recreational activities, and the service is generally good. My summer trip was long ago, but the dark clouds and lightning over the desert during the thunderstorms remain vividly in my memory.

I specifically visited this place because of the opening credits of "A Chinese Odyssey." Seeing Zixia boating among the reeds, accompanied by a melodious tune, brought back memories of thirty years ago.
It takes about an hour to drive here from Yinchuan. The price is a bit expensive; the entrance fee plus transportation costs nearly 200 yuan per person.
It feels overdeveloped, with too many unnecessary facilities added for commercial purposes, disrupting the original tranquility and serene natural beauty. The roaring seaplanes and speedboats, and the incredibly long return trip (from the island to the sand dunes to the pier, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk).
If you're short on time, this isn't a must-see attraction in Yinchuan.
The Shahu Scenic Area is suitable for taking children to play for a whole day. There are cute pet areas, swan and reed areas, and desert areas. You can also take a sightseeing bus and a boat to go there and back. The experience is very good, and there is no particular congestion during the National Day.

Visiting with the guide did deepen my understanding of history; however, while the site is large, the content is limited. Without a guide, you can complete the tour in half an hour, so be sure to do some research before you come. Most importantly, you can use the Ordos Tourist Card to get free admission. I was so sad not to use it at the time. Everyone should definitely buy the Ordos Tourist Card.
The Genghis Khan Mausoleum, located in Ejin Horo Banner, Ordos, boasts a majestic entrance plaza featuring a magnificent statue of Genghis Khan on horseback, whip in hand. Inside, the grasslands are vast, and the performances are diverse. Tickets are 90 yuan per person, with packages including performances available. Opposite, the distinctive Shuangju Square is accessible by shuttle bus. It's worth a visit if you have the time.

As one of the four famous Tibetan Buddhist temples in China, Wudangzhao Temple is renowned alongside the Potala Palace in Tibet, Kumbum Monastery in Qinghai, and Labrang Monastery in Gansu. It is the largest, most complete, and best-preserved Gelugpa Tibetan Buddhist temple in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and is known as the "First Temple of the Northern Grasslands" and the "Little Potala Palace on the Grasslands." The scenic area is built against the mountainside in a typical Tibetan style. The main buildings consist of six halls (including the Suguqin Hall and Dongkuoer Hall), three Living Buddha residences, and a mausoleum. I went to Kangbashi Museum some time ago, and it was really amazing! As soon as I walked to the front of the museum, I was attracted by the unique architectural shape, which looked like a rock that had been polished by time and had a special sense of history. After entering, the various exhibits were dazzling. There were ancient bronzes, exquisite ceramics, and precious calligraphy and paintings. Listening to the story behind these exhibits introduced by the guide, it was as if I traveled through time and space, and personally experienced the long history and splendid culture of Ordos. I felt very rewarding. I sincerely recommend everyone to go and have a look!
The exhibition design is very attentive, divided according to the natural development context, the visiting route is clear, the transition is natural, and it is not tiring to visit. The lighting and sound effects are also amazing. In the simulated tropical rainforest exhibition area, the lighting is combined with the sound of birds and wind, as if you are in the depths of the rainforest.

Despite its somewhat remote location, Yili Health Valley boasts a wealth of activities. During the National Day holiday, there were many interactive games and additional guided tours. The scenic area primarily features two areas: powdered milk and liquid milk. Guided tours offer a detailed understanding of the entire powdered milk or milk processing process. The well-designed circulation and affordable admission make it a worthwhile trip.
It was a fantastic day, a truly wonderful experience. I'm completely convinced Yili is a must-visit. It's a great place for both children and adults. This was one of the best memories of our first trip to Inner Mongolia.

I was a little disappointed after taking bus 92 to the Chulechuan Grassland stop. There was no grassland, just a desolate meadow with very short, dry grass. In the distance, I saw a building that looked like a yurt, went inside for a quick look, took a photo with a sculpture of a Mongolian beauty, and then came out via a road near the mountains. There was a bus stop for bus 115 by the roadside. After waiting a while, the bus arrived (it came from the Red Education Base), and I rode for two stops before finally reaching the core scenic area! It was breathtaking! Grasslands, towering green mountains, and babbling rivers were all within easy reach, a truly beautiful sight. The only downside was that I didn't see any horses or sheep. For the return trip, I first took bus 115 to the Red Education Base, then transferred to bus 92. Bus 115 is a suburban bus, running approximately every hour, so be mindful of your travel time. No entrance fee is required.
On August 31st, I took advantage of the weekend for a two-day, one-night special forces tour of Hohhot.
It happened to rain, so I'm especially grateful to the two train drivers who drove my son and me to the door to prevent us from getting soaked. Two weeks in advance was perfect. It's a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings now, so you can rent an electric scooter and combine the train ride with walking.

As a parent of a boy, it was worth taking him here. He loved it and looked at everything. There weren't many entertainment facilities inside, just some retired aircraft and cannons.
This attraction is a great value for money. You can see historical and cultural items like tanks and J-5 trainer aircraft, and they're incredibly authentic. The venue is also quite large. Even more surprising, we even saw Asia's first artillery piece, which was truly spectacular and exceeded our expectations.
I wish the descriptions could be more detailed, or include more historical battle stories about fighter jets and tanks.
Overall, the experience was fantastic. Seeing so many artillery pieces and fighter jets was incredibly cost-effective.
