Tips for travel from and to London St Pancras International

Travel documents for non-UK and non-EU Residents

You need to carry a valid passport when using Eurostar services. You might also need a visa, depending on your nationality. It’s important to check entry requirements for both the UK and the Schengen Area before departure. It’s also important to note that babies and children must have their own individual travel documents, and they can’t travel using a parent’s passport.

Schengen Area Entry-Exit System(EES)

The Entry-Exit System (EES) is a new border control system designed to streamline travel for non-EU passengers. It replaces passport stamping, instead keeping a digital record of entries and exits. This includes collecting biometric data, such as fingerprints and facial recognition. EES is now in operation and will be rolled out at all Schengen external borders in 2026, including Eurostar entry points in the UK and Europe.
During your first trip, you will be asked to complete a one-time registration. Future border crossings will then be quicker and automated, as your information has already been collected.

Check-in process

The Eurostar London station offers a convenient one-stop check-in process. Before boarding, you will need to complete security screening, exit checks for the UK and entry passport control for the EU, all of which happens at the same time and place. This saves time and allows you to step off the train, immediately starting your trip, without having to undergo any additional checks upon arrival.
To ensure a smooth departure, Eurostar recommends you arrive at least 75-90 minutes early for Standard and Plus class travelers, and 45 minutes early if you have a Premier ticket.

Luggage

Compared to flying, traveling on a Eurostar train with luggage is easy. There are no weight limits, which is ideal if you’re traveling with multiple or bulky items thanks to the standard and plus allowances of 2 pieces of luggage and one piece of hand luggage. Additionally, as you keep luggage with you, you won’t waste time at baggage claim. Plus, there are no extra fees for baggage.
For routes to and from London, each item can be no longer than 85cm, but you can travel with multiple bags. This luggage policy makes Eurostar a faster, more convenient and comfortable option for traveling across Europe, and helps allow you to enjoy your trip without worrying about weights and measurements.
