Macau to Hong Kong: Distance & Best Travel Options

The distance between Macau and Hong Kong is approximately 60km (37 miles) as the crow flies, and about 70 kilometers (43 miles) via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge. The ferry remains the most popular choice, with a sailing time of 55 minutes to 1 hour (plan around 1.5–2 hours total including check-in and immigration) from Macau Outer Harbour or Taipa Ferry Terminal to Hong Kong Island or Kowloon. For those seeking value, the HZMB cross-border bus offers a budget-friendly alternative with around 45 minutes on the bridge, but you should plan about 2–3 hours total including both border checks and transfers. If time is critical, helicopter services whisk you between the cities with a 15-minute flight, with the overall journey usually taking around 1–1.5 hours total including check-in and immigration. For groups with luggage, private car hire across the bridge offers the most flexible door-to-door option, typically taking about 1–1.5 hours total including border control.

Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong|2.67km from city center
Upon entering the room, there was a strange odor. After a patient explanation from the staff, I understood that this is a 1960s hotel, so I decided to make do. The non-seaview room offered no scenery at all from the window – just three walls as far as the eye could see. The hotel breakfast was mainly Western and Italian, with the Chinese options not being particularly extensive, and the taste was very average. However, getting to Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier was incredibly convenient, just a two-minute walk.

Excellent in every aspect, a very satisfying stay! The hotel is quietly located yet close to the city's hustle and bustle. The room was spacious and bright, spotlessly clean. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The front desk staff and service personnel were all exceptionally warm and attentive, and the breakfast selection was extensive. I will definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit and recommend it to my friends!

Mong Kok Hong Kong|0.18km from city center
The hotel facilities are good, and the location is excellent for getting around. It's also very kid-friendly. The only downside was that there wasn't a small filtered water carafe in the room, and I had to go all the way down to the lobby to get water. I was in a hurry and never even found the water station in the end. Otherwise, I was generally satisfied.

The hotel is perfect family, we travelling with 3 kids and there family included 2 double beds with a single lounge. Hotel was accommodating with supply extra blanket and friendly with providing directions. The hotel is connect to Mong Kok east station and require transfer to Mong Kok station to get to Disney land. We always stay at this hotel due to the reasonable price and excellent location. There is food court on level 3 as super convenient for food and great is kids doesn’t want to walk too far.

Wan Chai and Causeway Bay Hong Kong|4.81km from city center
The Regal Hotel was the biggest surprise of our Greater Bay Area trip, exceeding all expectations! While an older hotel, it's very well-maintained, spotlessly clean, and the bedding and mattress were incredibly comfortable and soft. The absolute best part is its superb location in Causeway Bay, offering excellent transport links. We arrived from Zhuhai via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and the A11 bus takes you directly to the hotel. For our return to mainland China, there's a CTS (China Travel Service) bus ticket office right next to the hotel entrance. You can buy tickets a day in advance for easy access to Shenzhen Port, Shenzhen Airport, and various cities in Guangdong. During our stay in Hong Kong, we walked to Sogo, Hysan Place, and Times Square, and there were plenty of dining options nearby. To get to Wan Chai Pier for the Star Ferry, you can catch a 'ding ding' tram right outside the hotel, and the MTR station is also very close, making getting around incredibly convenient. Finally, a special thanks to the hotel for providing a birthday cake 🎂 and red wine for my friend, which made for a wonderful birthday celebration in Hong Kong.

Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong|2.11km from city center
I stayed in Hong Kong for a day or two after a concert, and overall, my experience was pretty good. I booked quite early, so the room rate was a bit high, but they had a sea-view room available on the day, so they upgraded me, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel's location is decent; although the view isn't particularly expansive, you can still catch a glimpse of the sea. The in-room amenities are complete, including an air purifier, and the room itself is relatively spacious. Some facilities show a bit of age, but overall it's very clean and doesn't detract from the stay. The front desk and housekeeping staff speak Mandarin, so communication wasn't an issue at all. Their service attitude was excellent, and they patiently answered all my questions. There was no discrimination towards mainlanders, which is a big plus. Hope they keep up the good work.

Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong|2.53km from city center
I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong and it honestly exceeded my expectations. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, with everything just steps away. From shopping and restaurants to the MTR, it made traveling around so effortless, especially with kids. The room was spacious and very comfortable, which is something I truly appreciate in Hong Kong. The bed was super cozy, and everything was clean and well-maintained. I also loved how practical the layout was—it made settling in feel easy and relaxed. Service-wise, the staff were warm, attentive, and efficient. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and any requests were handled quickly, which made the whole stay feel seamless. What I enjoyed most was the balance—it’s lively outside, but once you’re back in the room, it feels calm and restful. Perfect after a long day out. Overall, it’s a great choice whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or even for a short getaway. Comfortable, convenient, and reliable—I would definitely come back again.

Convenient for hiking the MacLehose Trail. The room is quite spacious and offers great value for money. The 7-Eleven downstairs is very handy for essentials. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus, but if you're taking the MTR, the station isn't far and is within walking distance.

Great value for money and super convenient location! It's just a 5-minute walk to Tin Hau MTR station, and there's an A11 Citybus stop nearby that takes you straight to the airport in about an hour. The area is packed with amazing food options, and the famous dessert street, Tsing Fung Street, is right around the corner. Perfect!

Wan Chai and Causeway Bay Hong Kong|4.62km from city center
Whenever I come to Hong Kong, I stay here. It's still my go-to choice when I'm traveling solo. Whether I'm here for a concert or just sightseeing, it's super convenient. For solo travelers, the sense of security, excellent transport links, and overall comfort really add to its appeal. The hotel is very close to the Hong Kong Police Headquarters, and for a woman traveling alone, safety is paramount. The room size, by Hong Kong standards, isn't cramped; there's enough space, and it's consistently clean and fresh, with no strange odors. The bathroom even has a subtle scent, making for a very comfortable stay. The front desk staff are always professional. This time, I was lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite, which made the experience even better. The soundproofing is generally good; apart from the occasional sound of a neighbor's door opening and closing, I'm rarely disturbed by other noises. The central air conditioning allows for individual temperature control, and there are USB ports by the bed – convenient little details. Most importantly, I always sleep incredibly well here, right through till morning. It's definitely a hotel I'd happily return to again and again.

Although the room was small, the facilities were excellent and very clean, making for a comfortable stay. Toothbrushes need to be purchased separately for 1 HKD. The location is superb, especially since I was there for a concert; it was super convenient and close enough to walk to. It's also a straightforward walk to Mong Kok, where you can browse, shop, and eat along the way.

The location is unbeatable, with everything you need right outside the door – super convenient. K11 is just a 10-minute walk away. To be honest, besides the great location and good service attitude, everything else was pretty mediocre. The room wasn't very clean; there were tiny flying insects and what looked like chopped green onions on the floor? Perhaps left by the previous guest.

Clean and hygienic with excellent service. The staff are all very humble and easy to talk to. It's a 5-minute taxi ride to the high-speed rail station, and downstairs you'll find plenty of shops and food options. It's also close to the Star Ferry Terminal, and there's Wi-Fi.

The hotel is in Mong Kok, and the front desk staff are really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and they provided disposable slippers, though no disposable toothbrushes or combs. There are lots of 'cha chaan tengs' (local tea restaurants) nearby, and a McDonald's right across the street, making it super convenient for getting around and finding food. There's also a local dim sum place in the Kowloon shopping mall, and having morning tea with the locals was a great experience.
