Airports near Aurland

For the vast majority of visitors, Sogndal Haukasen Airport (SOG) is the most efficient gateway to Aurland. While it serves domestic routes, its proximity—located in a neighboring city—makes the final leg much shorter than any other option. Bergen Airport (BGO) is the primary international hub; although significantly further away, it offers the highest flight frequency and robust connections to the national train and express bus networks, making it better for those prioritizing international flight flexibility over travel time. Other airports like Alesund Airport (AES), Forde Airport (FDE), and Sandane Airport (SDN) are located in neighboring cities and primarily serve domestic traffic; these should generally only be considered if they provide a specific, more convenient connection for your origin. Regardless of the airport you choose, all require a multi-modal approach—typically involving buses, ferries, or private road transport—to reach the scenic fjord center of Aurland. Plan your arrival times carefully to coincide with local bus schedules, as service frequency can be limited.
