What airports are closest to Calgary?
The Calgary International Airport (YYC) is the most accessible entry point, located just 9.18 km from the city center, which can be reached by taxi in as little as 20 minutes. It provides extensive domestic and international connectivity, making it the primary hub for the region. Meanwhile, the Lethbridge Airport (YQL) sits significantly further away at 181.1264 km from Calgary. Travelers arriving here must typically rely on long-distance coach services or private shuttles, with transit times often exceeding 2 hours 30 minutes to reach the Calgary city core. Because this facility is situated in a neighboring city, it is primarily used for local travel within southern Alberta rather than as a gateway to Calgary itself. For the most seamless arrival, prioritize connections through the main hub at YYC to avoid the lengthy cross-regional commute. Airport Guide
Compare 2 airports near Calgary
For most travelers, Calgary International Airport (YYC) is the clear and practical choice. It serves as the primary international and domestic gateway located directly within Calgary, providing the most efficient access to the city center via various transport modes, including rapid bus and taxi services. In contrast, Lethbridge Airport (YQL) is located in the neighboring city of Lethbridge and does not serve Calgary directly. It is intended for those visiting the southern Alberta region rather than the Calgary urban area. Travelers landing at the latter must account for a significant travel time of over two hours to reach Calgary. Choosing between them depends entirely on your primary destination; use YYC for business or tourism within Calgary, and reserve the regional airport only if your itinerary is strictly centered in southern Alberta. For the best experience, we recommend pre-booking private transfers if you are traveling between cities, as regional public transport connections are limited.

Good location, however in the faucet everytime you switch to hot or cold water something yellow spits out every couple seconds. There was a mini bar and we did not touch it yet still got charged for a peach water which I did not use and when I phoned once I got the bill they told me that because it was in my room I was charged regardless if it was touched by us or not. My partner and I did not drink anything from there and no one was in our room. Otherwise good location for going out in the downtown and very comfortable bedsFromUS$179

This time I came to Calgary with my friends. The hotel is a little old and there are many shortcomings in the details. It really needs daily renovation. The advantage is that the bed is very comfortable to sleep on.FromUS$163

The location is great! They offer private airport transfers and it's a popular base for tour groups, which is super convenient as you don't have to constantly move around. There are also supermarkets nearby for easy shopping. For those planning a self-drive trip, it's not far from Highway 1, so everything is just perfect. My only slight disappointment was the lack of a hot water kettle in the room, which isn't ideal for us Asians who prefer hot drinks. Also, even though I only stayed one night, I was bothered by two Western girls. First, they were laughing loudly outside my door, then they knocked and ran away, only for me to open the door and see them laughing elsewhere with a phone propped up on the floor filming my doorway. Maybe it was some kind of YouTube prank! Anyway, I felt disturbed by them! I didn't feel comfortable filming them, but I hope the hotel takes this seriously.FromUS$125

Location strategic as there are fewer homeless people around compared with the 7th Avenue or core shopping area, and I didn't feel unsafe during my stay. It's near Chinatown too. I however do not particularly like this hotel as there's no kettle inside the room, air conditioning is rather strong and couldn't be adjusted except the temperature. Nothing to eat nearby and the restaurant on 2/F requires booking. The hotel doesn't have a character itself. Most ridiculous is that they require a security deposit by really debiting my credit card upon my checkin (usually hotels won't present the card for similar deposit as security).FromUS$170

The room having a sofa and a sink was very convenient, and it would have been perfect if it wasn't a bit chilly. The jacuzzi in the pool area is a great photo spot. Valet parking is available, and there's also a parking lot. The staff are friendly. Instead of the breakfast buffet, I opted for a morning sandwich at a nearby Starbucks. It was nice that I could walk to Calgary Tower while enjoying the shopping street along the way.FromUS$191

We stayed at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino hotel because we wanted to try the $50 prime rib buffet at the Mohave Grill. The prime rib was amazing by the way. My husband and noticed that hotels were really expensive that weekend, so we thought to pay an extra $40 and stay somewhere that we thought was going to be more bougie than an Econolodge. Upon check-in, the staff were friendly and let us check in early without an extra charge. The rooms were clean and neat. The beds however were not the most comfortable, so the sleep wasn't that great. The tub was also not the greatest as it feels like it was made for a small child, and I'm a medium build at 5'3. We have stayed in Comfort Inns, Econolodges, and other hotels like them and we found the Deerfoot Inn to be the same room-wise. We got our stay for $200 for the night and that was without a continental breakfast. A lot of the time I have seen this hotel at over $300 a night. I wouldn't stay here again unless the rooms are around $160, which to us is what they should be. It was a waste of the extra $40 to stay here when you can get the same room at a cheaper hotel with breakfast. Yes, they have the Casino so there is a little bit more to do walking around but still not worth the room price.FromUS$163

The pool at Hotel Arts was lovely—we were on a staycation, and the pool really made us feel like we were on a tropical holiday. The rooms and the service were also everything you would want out of a hotel, with a location to boot. Great experience all around. FromUS$170

Room was average, but I was placed in a room with a connecting door to another room, and there was very little sound insulation between the two rooms. I could also see light coming through the cracks around the hallway door.
Since this hotel is near the airport, many guests are likely staying there before or after travel and may already be on limited sleep. Because of that, I’m not sure I would recommend this hotel if a quiet room is important.
That said, the staff were great, and I appreciated the free shuttle.FromUS$140

This hotel in Calgary offers incredible value for money! It was by far the most comfortable stay I had throughout my entire trip in Canada. The facilities are new, the rooms are spacious, and the decor is elegant and tasteful. They even have a gym. The service was very welcoming, though the restaurant food was quite average – but then again, Chinese palates can be hard to please! The best part was the long row of charging desks in the lobby. For someone like me, who had half a day to kill before heading to the airport and needed to work on my laptop, it was absolutely perfect! The hotel is also just a 100-meter walk from Caesar's Steak House, a famous old steakhouse in Calgary. If you're interested, it's worth checking out. This hotel gave my Canadian trip a wonderful ending! (Although I did encounter some truly disgusting and over-the-top hotels along the way – like the Glacier View Lodge by the Columbia Icefield on the Icefields Parkway near Jasper. They severely discriminated against Chinese people, and the staff were incredibly rude and aggressive, telling guests to get out of their hotel late at night in freezing weather! I'd advise everyone to avoid it.)FromUS$173

This hotel is convenient for transfers, with spacious and comfortable rooms and quality bedding. Despite being right next to the runway, the soundproofing is excellent, ensuring a good night's sleep. The front desk service is professional and efficient, and the indoor pool and gym facilities are well-maintained, perfect for relaxing after a long flight. The breakfast offers a wide variety of choices, and the restaurant consistently delivers good food. For business travelers or families prioritizing efficiency, you'll be hard-pressed to find any faults here. Highly recommended.FromUS$298
