Airport Guide

Compare 5 airports near Canberra

For the vast majority of travelers, Canberra Airport (CBR) is the only logical choice for visiting Canberra, as it is the only airport located within the city itself. It handles domestic routes and offers the most efficient, cost-effective ground transport to the city center. The other four airports are located in neighboring cities or regions and primarily serve local communities rather than Canberra. Cooma Snowy Mountains Airport (OOM) serves the Snowy Mountains region, while Moruya Airport (MYA) serves the South Coast; both require lengthy regional coach or private car transfers to reach the capital. Similarly, Wagga Wagga Airport (WGA) and Shellharbour Airport (WOL) are located in the Riverina and Illawarra regions respectively, making them highly inconvenient for a standard trip to Canberra. Unless you are specifically visiting those regional areas first, stick to CBR for a seamless experience.

I came here for a career fair, and needed somewhere cheap to stay overnight so I can my bus back to Sydney the next day. I found Little Drifter the perfect location for my stay, and the price is right. Upon check-in I was given a URL to a webpage where I can remotely open the room I was assigned. not super ideal since if my phone died, I can't access my room. Nevertheless, I paid $8 for a rental towel and got to room where I had the whole room to myself. I initially thought that I had roommates because the other beds were still messy as the cleaners didn't clean them up, but my bed was cleaned. The washrooms were clean, but I had a problem with the hot water from the shower where it would periodically run out and blast cold water on me, then it would slowly get hot again. This happened to me for my whole stay which was quite annoying since I had to constantly adjust the water temp and move myself away from the freezing water. Otherwise, I had a fantastic stay and would happily stay here again upon my next visit.

Excellent location - bus stop right outside the hotel made getting around very convenient, short walking distance to shops. Room itself was spacious, and bed was comfortable which made for a pleasant overall stay. Basic amenities such as toothbrushes, shower cap and slippers etc were not provided in room. The mini bar also didnt have prices listed, so no clue what items would cost. The main lighting in the room and bathroom was bright and quite harsh for me, no option to adjust to a softer tone. And the bathroom fan was quite loud and didnt appear to have an option to turn it off, which could be disruptive. Also, reception is not available 24hrs and at times it was difficult to get in touch with staff for assistance. Overall a decent stay, an excellent location.

Canberra is a beautiful city with virtually brand new streets and buildings. The bus station from Sydney to Canberra is right next to the Novotel, and it's just a few hundred meters walk to the Crowne Plaza. The hotel facilities are good, with a pool and gym. The room size is smaller than in China but larger than in Japan. The casino is right next to the hotel. I want to specifically talk about the service. When I arrived, they initially gave me a connecting room. Later, they switched me to a twin room. It made me feel like the front desk staff was a tour guide handling a** (rubbish/bad) tour group.

The location is super convenient, right in the city center with the bus station next door. There are no cooking facilities in the room, but they have a restaurant with a breakfast buffet and à la carte dinner. Public amenities include a pool and a sauna (though it was closed when I tried to use it in the evening). The service was friendly and helpful with any issues. Overall, it was great! 😍

Room was good however the bed was small. Also, the tv barely can play a local news as the screen keeps on freezing. In addition, the bathroom floor was sticky. I was ones in room 3 and 5 and noticed the same thing, it’s as if they don’t properly clean the floor tiles. This time I was in 145 and the bathroom/toilet floor was sticky. Otherwise they have free coffee at the reception which was good.

The hotel's location is excellent! It's right in the heart of Canberra, with the city center downstairs and very close to the bus stop. Public transport to the airport is super convenient, and it's easy to get to the City Centre. The room was great, and there's a well-equipped gym too.

Great stay. Very nice hotel. Room on small side and the twin beds were sandwiched together - which was fine as travelling with a close friend however if you were with someone not so familiar may have been a bit too close for comfort. Car park was full but we found free street parking next to hotel with no restrictions so left car there all weekend no problem. Able to walk to restaurants for dinner. Very convenient spot and great value for money.

The overall experience was good. I ordered a two-bedroom apartment, which is a two-bedroom shared toilet. Please write it here for everyone who wants to order. The environment is nice and quiet, the rooms are relatively clean and tidy, the daily necessities provided are relatively complete, and the price is relatively high. The only drawback was that there was a problem with the water heater in the room at that time. There was always no hot water in the bath, but it was reflected to the front desk, hoping to resolve it as soon as possible.

Haha, this hotel definitely requires a bit of an adventurous spirit to stay at! It was built in 1926, so it's celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. In the lobby restaurant, there's a very old manual plug-in switchboard. The hotel's past life probably wasn't as a hotel; it gives off more of a government archives vibe 😂. The room facilities are a bit dated, especially the carpet, but there's a certain echo of the 1950s. The bathroom is quite small, and the shower area, in particular, seems like it would be a squeeze for anyone a bit larger. Canberra gets really cold, so it was a thoughtful touch that the hotel provided extra blankets. Overall, I think you need to have a bit of a nostalgic appreciation to truly enjoy this kind of hotel. The service, however, was quite good.

Canberra is a verdant landscaped city. While public transport is somewhat limited its small size and excellent walking pathways offer 5-10 minute walks to reach most major amenities or local shops and services. Hotel Realm is in the very central Barton district and a healthy walk to most major sites and museums, galleries and houses of parliament. Overall a good choice for both business and tourists.

Recently stayed at Hyatt Hotel Canberra and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The hotel strikes a great balance between old-world charm and modern comfort, with the heritage architecture giving the property a unique character that you simply do not get with many newer hotels. The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained, and the overall atmosphere throughout the hotel felt calm, professional and relaxing. Staff were welcoming, attentive and genuinely helpful from check-in through to departure, which made the stay seamless. The location is also excellent, particularly for anyone travelling for business, government-related work or simply wanting easy access to Canberra’s key attractions and parliamentary precinct. A standout was the buffet breakfast, which offered a strong variety and quality selection. Overall, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and I would happily return when next visiting Canberra.

Very clean, chic hotel with a popular restaurant and bar. It is conveniently located on Northbourne Avenue , Elouera St and Mort Street which is directly the line of Canberra's night clubs if you are coming on a weekend. There's only two sets of lifts for Hotel Clients which isn't a problem for an Asian ( moi) who is used to very crowded areas. But this can be a bit inconvenient for locals who are used to express service. Pool, gym, sauna. Major plus points. And the best part of all is the free bar fridge in the room. (Not sure if it was a promotion but my friend and I could drink all of what was offered for free!) We didnt because we are massive alcohol fans. The only major downside is the 25 dollar parking fee. No, no no. You can raise the price a bit higher for the quality of rooms but it's a bit offputting to have that as an additional fee. Overall, a pretty great experience from service to aminities.

The location of the hotel is central yet you have to pay extra for the car park (subject to availability). The room was clean however the building itself is quite old and outdated.

Stayed at A by Adina Canberra and had a great experience overall. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-equipped—perfect for both short and extended stays. The central location makes it easy to explore nearby attractions, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Cleanliness was top-notch, and the facilities felt new and well-maintained. A solid choice if you’re visiting Canberra.
