Had a wonderful two-day stay in Dandong. My original room wasn't available, so they upgraded me, which was a nice touch. The hotel service was excellent. The room was incredibly spacious, so much so that going to the restroom at night felt like an expedition. The floor-to-ceiling window offered unbeatable views directly overlooking the Yalu River. The bedding was comfortable, and the sleep was peaceful. Downstairs, the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. The bathhouse on the 30th floor was reasonably priced and very clean and well-maintained. The hotel is conveniently located near several attractions, but I have to complain about the parking situation. There's an office building in the same complex, so employees park their cars three deep, making it nearly impossible to find a spot. Even if you do, there's a high chance you'll be blocked in. Huge thanks to the front desk attendant for upgrading us to a hot spring room! We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Waking up early, I got to watch the stunning sunrise from the room, which really boosted my mood. The room's details were thoughtfully designed, and it was spotlessly clean. The floor-to-ceiling windows even had narrow side vents that could be opened, letting in a refreshing breeze from the river. All the staff, including the doorman, front desk, and the lovely Korean staff in the breakfast restaurant, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Parking: No charging stations available. It's a shared underground parking lot with the adjacent residential area. You need to get an exit pass from the front desk every time you leave. There's no elevator from the parking lot directly to the hotel; you have to walk to the back entrance to reach the lobby.
Check-in: The process was quick. They proactively provided extra amenities based on the number of guests. Kids even got slippers and toothbrushes.
Cleanliness: Generally clean, but the place is old. There were mold spots on the comforter. The sink drain was clogged, but an engineer came to fix it quite quickly. The breakfast selection was limited to one aisle: one coffee machine, milk, orange juice, croissants, one type of small cake, toast, one fruit, vegetable salad, one soup, two types of congee, red bean buns, yam, four hot dishes, and six types of pickles. The hotel is very close to the railway station, 10 min walk to the promenade, Broken Bridge and Piers, there’s a small park next to the hotel with dancing fountains and illuminated street at night ( looks wow!), easy to reach restaurants, stores and shops, where you can buy goods produced in DPRK. Before talking to the receptionist , better get ready your phone translator if you’re not fluent in Chinese, they didn’t seem very friendly and hospitable, the house keeping lady was more hello-hi and smiling, helped me to find the dashboard in my room to switch the lights:). By the way , the toilet surprised me with warm mode and some more functions you’ll check by yourself ( especially ladies:)). Breakfast….even for Chinese locals and hotel rating it looked poor and not delicious.Perhaps, it’s only my opinion, but I was disappointed and left the hotel restaurant half hungry.The hotel room is quite cozy and spacious, the mattress is not soft , but comfy for sleeping.Recommend it for short stay, 2-3 days, but for budget travelers, it’s not the option. We booked a river view family room, and the hotel service was very attentive. As soon as we parked the car, there were staff to help with our luggage. The staff at the front desk No. 030 immediately helped with the check-in procedures. We successfully checked into the river view room on the 4th floor, and thoughtfully gave us a piece of fruit and Yogurt, an unexpected surprise. The room is very big. There is a sofa by the window. You can enjoy the river view through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. This is the reason why we chose it. Although there was heavy rain this time and the upstream flood discharge caused a power outage in the hotel, they took emergency measures. It was very good.
