We arrived late at night, so we didn’t have much time to explore the hotel. One thing we appreciated was that the hotel has a gym, as well as a bakery and a convenience store on site. Since room service is quite expensive, being able to grab some ramyeon as a late night snack was a great alternative because who doesn’t love ramyeon?
The next morning, we finally had time to look around. The swimming pools were drained, which meant the terrace area was closed. That was a bit disappointing, but since I wasn’t planning to swim anyway, it wasn’t a major issue.
The outdoor garden is beautiful, with plenty of photo spots where you can take lovely pictures. The beach is relatively small, but definitely worth visiting. The water is incredibly clear and the scenery is stunning.
Getting to the beach was an adventure in itself. You have to walk across a bridge, head all the way down, and pass through a few access checkpoints. However, the journey is worth it, as it allows you to see another side of the hotel and enjoy the surrounding views.
Overall, we had a great one day stay and enjoyed our experience. One tip: if you’re checking out and planning to take a taxi, it’s easier to leave from the beach side entrance, where taxis are much more readily available.FromUS$90

The hotel room was clean, big and comfortable. I had lake view. The hotel is located near the lake, the beach and restaurants as well as convenience stores and bus stops. Gangneung Coffee Street is a bus drive of 15 minutes away. However, I was shocked when the staff informed me about the admission fee for the swimming pool: 30.000 korean won!!!! It is not mentioned on Trip.com neither ***********. Anyway, the admission fee is far too high. I have chosen the hotel for its swimming pool. Next time in Gangneung, I will choose another hotel: this hotel only offered a clean and comfortable room, for a high price, but Gangneung has many hotels with clean and comfortable rooms, that are also located nearby the beach, lake, restaurants and bus stops, but for a better price.FromUS$112

When my friend and I arrived at the hotel, we were greeted warmly by the staff at the desk (who spoke to us in English) and we were checked-in quickly. I was expecting the hotel room to just be another average room, but honestly we were so pleased with how clean and spacious it was and the bathroom had a big bathtub! The bed was so comfortable and we slept like babies!
In terms of location, it was about a 4-6 minute bus ride from the bus station which was great. And it’s close to a street filled with all sort of restaurants - so it was a very convenient location. I would definitely go there again if I went to Gangneung.FromUS$56

Traveling with a 2-year-old child
It was nice that there was a children's playground, an indoor pool, and a large hot spring bath. The child was very satisfied.
The dinner buffet had delicious snow crab and sashimi.
There were various activities on site, as well as a convenience store, restaurant, and cafe, so we could enjoy ourselves all day at the resort.
About 20 cm of snow fell in the middle of the night, but the staff worked hard to shovel it away, which was great.
There were mats laid in the pool to prevent slipping, but they were not all over the place, so the tiled parts were slippery, so please be careful if you have small children.

On the first night of our two-night stay, after dinner, we returned to our room to find the doorknob broken. I sustained a minor injury (a bruise on my knee) while trying to open the door.
The next day, I explained the situation to the front desk. Their response was, 'Can't you go out for a bit? We'll fix it while you're gone.' Given my frequent overseas business trips, I'm quite surprised that a hotel of this caliber didn't even bother to ask if I was okay after I got injured. Since it wasn't a major injury anyway, and Seamarq isn't exactly known for its service, I decided to just go along with it. I told them I'd go out for a tea and dinner and left.
Upon my return, I found that nothing had been repaired. So I called them again. The person on the phone from housekeeping said, 'We haven't received any such request. Let me check. Is there anything else you need?' When I said no, they let out an incredibly exasperated sigh, saying 'Yes... [sigh]'. It was truly absurd. I wasn't being difficult or demanding special service because of my injury, especially at a hotel charging these prices. So, to have the customer service team sigh at me was incredibly frustrating.
About 10 minutes later, the maintenance team came up. They then asked if I could leave again so they could repair it. I wondered why they made me leave earlier if this was going to happen. Anyway, I left and came back again, only to find it was just a makeshift repair. I was too fed up to argue further, so I didn't say anything.
I suppose I'll end up staying at Seamarq again when I visit Gangneung, as there's no real alternative until Shilla Monogram opens. I'll just think of this place not as a hotel, but as a ridiculously expensive luxury infinity pool. This was my fourth stay, and it seems that every time I come, the beautiful hardware is completely ruined by the service.
However, the service for other facilities like the pool and spa wasn't bad. (While not professional, there was a sense of thoughtfulness in many aspects.)FromUS$285
