We did not have a perfect experience from this stay at Somerset HCM hence no full marks. Apartment - we were allocated a non-ideal ground floor 2 bedroom apartment facing the swimming pool, we requested for a change of room at the point of check in but were denied repeatedly. There was a pool party at the pool with a high noise level. We made a complaint, the reception then offered a room change for the next day but we declined having already unpacked & settled in. There is no pool view as we had to close the curtains throughout the stay for privacy reasons. The TV in the master bedroom was not working at all, we made a request, they repaired the TV after a long time on the second night but it was spoilt again. We gave up & did not made another request. The TV should have been checked that it is in order before allowing guests to check in. Other than these 2 negative points, the apartment was simply great. The kitchen was clean and well equipped with a washing machine, microwave and conventional ovens, crockery & kitchen utensils. The 2 bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well equipped too. Housekeeping is great, apartment was cleaned and refreshed well daily. Location is fine. It may not be that convenient to shopping, food & places of interest but it is not a problem at all in HCM as it is so easy and affordable to take a Grab to anywhere. For info, we stayed 3 nights and paid higher than average rates for this 2 bedroom apartment.FromUS$130

What made me unhappy and inconvenient, the reasons I gave two stars for amenties are as follows:
1) toilet - clean yes, but the water pump is top strong and inconvenient to press, feel like I am pressing a broken handle water pump.
2) trash bin - in the toilet, it is difficult to push down the cover, too strong, so always ended up touching my hand with the cover where most of the trashed from the toilet were in contact with while pushing down. In the room, the cover, always need to use hands to remove the cover.
3) Electricity plug sockets - should have at least two free, one each by each bed. But what we had to use is the one for TV plug, the one for night light bulb (between the bed). Only one free socket by the mirror in the bedroom. So very inconvenience for two persons to charge our phones or laptops.FromUS$99

The aircon was good and quiet.
The location is perfect - i often stay around that area, everything is very walkable, taxi is cheap and quick.
Some cons:
1) sometimes there is a cigarette smell coming from the ventilation - some guests are smoking inside
2) i think windows should be eventually replaced to modern with a better sound insulation as there are some places with loud music nearby

The hotel is located right in the city center, but it’s a relatively low-rise building with only about 5–6 floors. When you open the window, you can see the river outside. Overall, the hotel is very clean, and the bed sheets are changed daily.
The only downside is that the bathroom is quite old, and the shower is inside the bathtub, so you have to stand in the tub when showering.
What I liked most was the rooftop bar—it’s a really nice place to relax. The staff are all very kind and friendly. We stayed in one room with three people, and they thoughtfully provided an extra bed for us. That level of service made the stay well worth it.
