The owner is very kind and speaks good English. She was very helpful in giving advice for where to visit in Shaxi. The location is great, right in the best part of old town.
I stayed in the small one bed room. It's perfect for a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable and warm. The toilet/shower is downstairs. Its a little small, but is acceptable.
The walls are very thin so if you are there when it's busy (spring festival for me) it can be loud. But if it were a quieter time of year I think it would have been just fine.

The location is excellent, right in the pedestrian zone of the old town, and you can drive within about 20 meters of the entrance. The service at the guesthouse was incredibly warm and attentive. When there were minor issues with the air conditioning and lights, they immediately called a technician to fix them. You can also request different pillows. They even helped with washing, drying, and collecting clothes. In addition to breakfast, they offered a late-night white fungus soup.
The facilities are relatively new and include underfloor heating. Although there aren't many guest rooms, there's a tea room and a lounge where you can relax and enjoy some tea.
The recommended restaurants were also great, and mentioning the guesthouse's name even got us a discount.
The only downside is the poor soundproofing of the wooden Bai-style house. We could hear every movement from the upstairs guests clearly in the middle of the night. Luckily, the kids went to bed early. If you're a light sleeper, it's best to choose an upstairs room.FromUS$111

My friend and I didn't bring much, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the toiletries were from well-known brands, making us feel very comfortable and at ease. In the mornings, some tourists would take photos by the courtyard entrance, but the owner would politely ask them to keep their voices down so as not to disturb our rest. We even locked ourselves out late at night, and the owner, being incredibly kind, came out to help us open the door. The housekeeper will not disturb too much, but when you sit in the yard in a daze, you will bring a pot of herbal tea in due course. For this staycation, I went to The Linden Centre and even got to stay in the room featured in the movie 'Have a Nice Day'. It was incredibly relaxing.
The hotel is located within the Shibao Mountain Scenic Area, opposite Shilong Village. It's rustic and quiet, with minimal light pollution, so at night you can look up and see a sky full of stars. During the day, you can participate in various hotel activities, so there's never a dull moment. It's also very convenient to ask the hotel to arrange a car if you want to visit the nearby Jianchuan Ancient Town.
The rooms have underfloor heating, so there's no air conditioning noise, and they even provide power banks. You can order food from the restaurant and have it delivered to your room, and everything tastes great. I particularly recommend the passion fruit fish and the yellow braised chicken – delicious!
The service was just right – attentive without being intrusive. One thing I really appreciated is that most of the staff at the front desk are women, such as Dongmei, Xiao Meng, Hailey, and another short-haired woman whose name I didn't catch. Their attentiveness made me feel very secure and well cared for.

This is a warm homestay. The couple who run it are friendly, enthusiastic and meticulous. They called in advance to inform us that there will be a big market in Shaxi today and they will come from the primary school. Then they sent the location. Although the parking lot is only 100 meters away, they waited there early to pick up the luggage. When I walked in, they asked me if I wanted coffee or tea. What surprised me was that the coffee was really delicious, which was much better than the coffee shop outside. The hotel is in an excellent location. Yujin Bridge is a few steps away from the front door, and Nanzhaimen is uphill from the back door. I upgraded to the most beautiful room, which is large and bright with windows on three sides. The facilities in the house are very complete, with details in place and quality. They change slippers when they enter the door, and the bathroom is full of paper towels. As soon as I entered the room, I found a pair of chestnut-dyed cloth squirrels placed on the bed. Lying on the third-floor bed, the old tree glowed with life under the setting sun. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel, located in the historic district of Shanxi. Housed in an authentic traditional courtyard estate with an inner garden, the property itself is a beautiful cultural experience. The rooms are very comfortable, and the hotel’s location couldn’t be better.
The view from our window was simply breathtaking — overlooking the river and the mountains. One of the highlights of our stay was the evening soup with translucent mushrooms and fruit, which we enjoyed very, very much.

This hotel is right at the entrance to the ancient town, which makes getting around super convenient. You can even drive straight into the hotel's parking lot. It's just a few minutes' walk to Yujin Bridge, and if you go past the bridge and through the rice paddies, there's a path leading to Banshan Cafe. Sideng Street is also quite close. The hotel's courtyard is really quiet, and the rooms are spacious with large beds. Breakfast was good too. Just a heads-up: there's 'Lanlin Pavilion Hotel' and 'Lanlin Pavilion Garden Hotel' in the area, so make sure your taxi driver takes you to the right one.
