The nearest entry point to Karuizawa is Shinshu-Matsumoto Airport (MMJ), located 63.5 km away, which primarily serves domestic flights and offers the most efficient transit via a combination of local bus and train or car rental. For international travelers, Haneda Airport (HND) at 138.6 km is generally the most accessible, as the Keikyu Line provides a quick link to Tokyo Station, where the Hokuriku Shinkansen offers a seamless, high-speed connection to Karuizawa. Narita International Airport (NRT), situated 173.0 km away, is a major international hub but involves a longer transit time through the Tokyo metropolitan area. Ibaraki Airport (IBR) at 164.2 km primarily caters to domestic and select low-cost international routes, requiring bus transit to Tokyo before connecting north. Finally, Komatsu Airport (KMQ) at 196.2 km is the furthest and most challenging, best suited for travelers already exploring the Hokuriku region. Travelers should prioritize the Shinkansen for speed and comfort, as driving times in mountain areas can fluctuate significantly due to seasonal weather conditions and traffic, especially when departing from coastal metropolitan airports.

Great location! There's a hotel shuttle bus right outside Karuizawa Station's South Exit, or you can walk there in about 10 minutes. It's connected to the outlet mall area, so you'll never run out of options for food, drinks, and shopping. The lobby is spacious and grand, and there's even a FamilyMart convenience store inside. The staff are warm, professional, and helpful. The rooms are large, and the bedding is clean. The cabin area in the back is huge, with clear blue skies, green lawns, and beautiful undulating terrain. The air is fresh, and at 1000 meters above sea level, it's very pleasant. The view from the breakfast window is absolutely stunning, and the breakfast itself is delicious with a wide variety of choices.

Stepping inside, we were greeted by the iconic stove, and a thoughtful warm drink, which was a lovely touch. The service was very welcoming. The room, for Japan, was quite spacious and even had a balcony, though it was bare in winter. Both breakfast and dinner were extensive. Dinner, which we pre-booked, was a standout with its distinctive and delicious Western cuisine.

This was my first time staying at the Karuizawa Marriott Hotel. The public onsen has both indoor and outdoor baths, and while the facilities were clean, the area was a bit small. The room itself was very spacious, clean, and the environment was quiet. The hotel breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. Highly recommended!

I booked two nights separately. The boss is like a foreigner. It is indeed Japanese. I am not good at Japanese. I communicated with translation software. I asked him some questions. He gave me advice and helped me. Breakfast is available every day. Three can be picked. I ate two, the amount is large, very delicious, Western breakfast, I rented a bicycle for a day, very happy, Karuizawa is really a good place, I want to come once in summer, maybe next year, maybe the next year! Definitely! The last photo I should take with my mobile phone, haha!

What a find. The hotel is great and close to JR Station. The very beautiful fire place and small library makes the hotel standout from others. The Japan iconic convenience store Lawson is directly opposite the hotel. I have a wonderful and pleasant stay at this hotel. Strongly recommended.

This is the best choice if the kids want to ski and the adults want a place to wander around! We can relax in the hot springs, stroll around the outlets, and the kids can ski to their hearts' content. We can also drive to the Karuizawa shopping street for a leisurely walk. It's an effortless trip, perfect!

This time, choosing the old Karuizawa Harvest Festival Hotel is really a pleasant choice. In Karuizawa, which is full of beautiful buildings, the old Karuizawa Harvest Festival Hotel has a beautiful appearance and interior that is not inferior to any other hotel. The room is also a beautiful forest view, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The facilities are very complete, the public hot springs and breakfast are perfect and impeccable. The most important thing is that the intimate and warm welcome attitude of the service staff in the hotel makes our group of passengers who come to Karuizawa for thousands of miles feel like a warm heart like a warm friend. I personally recommend this hotel and if you are coming to Karuizawa, I highly recommend this hotel as your place to stay.

The place looks exactly like the photos, no exaggeration at all. The entire house is enveloped by nature. In the mornings, I meditated and read in the garden with birds singing in the woods – it truly felt like my body was completely at one with nature. The owner mentioned that this particular unit boasts the largest garden among all their room types and was designed to mimic the architecture of the Kogen Church. The upstairs features an open sleeping area with four futons, which could easily accommodate six people. Downstairs also offers a tatami sleeping area. One thing to note is that sound travels easily between floors, as they are all open-plan rooms. The bathroom facilities are absolutely fantastic! With a built-in drying system and a hairdryer, the floor dries instantly after you shower. All the room amenities felt like they were from premium brands. My favorite item, surprisingly, was the trash can, haha! It's exactly the kind of setup Shanghai's waste classification system desperately needs. I'm already 'sold' on it and planning to get one myself, haha! Guests can also cook their own meals here. The owner's breakfast was not only generous but also incredibly delicious. I'll definitely have to try the steak for dinner next time – I'm sure it's excellent. The owner was incredibly kind and patient, helping us arrange taxis and even providing pick-up and drop-off services. We're very grateful. Karuizawa's summer weather is wonderfully comfortable and refreshing. The hotel's location is also fantastic, within walking distance of the Wild Bird Forest. Just a quick note: breakfast and dinner need to be reserved in advance!

We had a wonderful stay at the Mampei Hotel. The hotel is beautifully designed inside and out, the staff are fantastic, and the meals we had for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner were all delicious, as were drinks at the iconic hotel bar. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay again.

We stayed for two nights on a family trip. The hotel is a luxurious establishment with three hotels, a chapel, and a wedding reception hall on a vast site of 230,000 square meters, and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing time. The breakfast buffet and French dinner were delicious, and the service was excellent. There was also a large hot spring bath, and there was plenty of greenery, so it was a pleasant walk. I recommend staying two or even three nights instead of just one.

Amazing experience as always with the Fufu brand. We stayed at the Hakone one previously and thought it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Our trip to Karuizawa this time was driven by our intent to try Fufu Kyukaruizawa, and it did not disappoint one bit. From the zen interior to the most attentive and friendly staff to the never-ending dining experiences (yes, even for breakfast it was a multi course menu), we were utterly blown away by our two-night stay. The fireplace in the lobby and in our room was such a pleasant touch even though we stayed during May, our teppanyaki chef personally seeing us out to the lift and bowing until we were out of sight shows how they go above and beyond, and we really appreciated how at each interaction the staff knew and clarified our coming arrangements, ensuring our entire stay was a seamless experience. Fufu remains our favourite Japanese hotel brand. Just wish they had a loyalty program as we are looking to check off all the Fufu hotels in our lifetime.

This was my second stay here. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, or a 1000 JPY taxi ride. Kumoba Pond is also within walking distance. The hotel is nestled in a resort area surrounded by pine trees, and the room size, especially compared to Tokyo, is incredibly spacious. The Japanese breakfast was exquisite and delicious. This time, I accidentally left a sweater behind. When I contacted the hotel to pick it up on my way back from Kusatsu, I saw staff members in the rain wiping guests' suitcases with towels – very impressive! 👍

Excellent! There was a Chinese staff member at the front desk who was incredibly warm and helpful. She assisted with my luggage and gave great recommendations for local attractions. The hotel is located next to a charming small church with a pretty courtyard, creating a lovely atmosphere. Even though I'm not religious, admiring the architecture and taking a stroll around the area was incredibly relaxing. I'll definitely return!
