Compare 5 airports near Kirishima

Choosing the right airport for your trip to Kirishima largely depends on your origin and priorities. Kagoshima International Airport (KOJ) is the only airport physically located in Kirishima, making it the most practical gateway for nearly all visitors. It serves as an essential hub for domestic connections and regional access. Other airports, such as Kumamoto Airport (KMJ), Nagasaki Airport (NGS), Saga International Airport (HSG), and Miyazaki Airport (KMI), are all located in neighboring cities and serve different prefectures. These alternatives are better suited for those planning a broader regional tour of Kyushu. While these airports offer diverse flight schedules, they require significantly longer land transit times and involve complex transfers across multiple rail lines or highway buses. For travelers prioritizing speed and cost-effectiveness, Kagoshima International Airport (KOJ) remains the clear leader. If you choose to fly into a secondary hub, we recommend pre-booking private transfers or ensuring you have a flexible multi-day rail pass to navigate the long distances efficiently.

Next to Maruo Onsen Station, you can see Sakurajima if the weather is good. The hot spring is a sulfur spring, which is very beautiful in white and blue. There is also a hot spring steam sauna. The only bad thing is that the buffet has a lot of varieties but the taste is quite average. However, for a price of just over 600 yuan for one night and two meals, it is perfect.

First of all, I would like to thank the hotel for its assistance. I sprained my foot during the trip and the hotel provided the address of the hospital. On the day of check-out, I asked to wear the hotel's slippers and was willing to pay for it, but the hotel did not charge any fees. The child left an important toy in the room. The hotel provided very timely and proactive assistance and helped to send it back. In addition, the facilities are impeccable. The hotel provides thick coats for cold weather and children's toys. All the facilities in the room are very complete. Impeccable. The food portions were double for us A very memorable experience Two days of accommodation, two different meals In-room hot spring Facial masks are provided in the bathroom There is a paid campfire The price is reasonable Fireworks are also available for purchase

Our stay at Kirishima Onsen Ryokojin Sanso was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is beautifully situated on a hill and easily accessible by car. The spacious rooms and amazing onsen facilities were impressive, especially the private outdoor onsen in the forest, which we enjoyed in the evening when it was dark – a truly phenomenal experience. The authentic food was another highlight, beautifully presented and truly delicious. We highly recommend Kirishima Onsen Ryokojin Sanso for anyone seeking a serene and authentic Japanese onsen experience.

The first hotel in Kyushu during the winter vacation, it exceeded expectations in every aspect. The scale of the hot springs is rare in Kyushu, and the banquet dishes for dinner are very delicious. Each of the sashimi, wagyu beef, and pork shabu-shabu is delicious, and even the dessert at the end is of high quality. The day before checking in, the biggest snow fell in the area, and for safety reasons, the century-old cedar courtyard was not allowed to enter, which was a bit regretful. If I have the chance, I will definitely bring my family to stay here again.

I chose this hotel because it's conveniently located about a 25-minute bus ride from Kagoshima Airport. There's also an izakaya and a 24-hour supermarket nearby, which is convenient. When I opened the door to my hotel room, I was hit by a musty smell, and honestly, it was pretty bad without the window open. I was also bothered by mold in various places around the room, such as on the walls. I was also bothered by hairs scattered all over the bed and other places even before I used it. Breakfast is free and is available from 6:30am. The selection is limited, but there's no extra charge, which is appreciated.

The environment is good. Maybe it’s because of winter, but there’s no loud noise. It’s quite peaceful. In order to not have to look for food around, I decisively decided to stay there and have two meals. Dinner was Kaiseki cuisine. I always thought I had a big appetite. Good guy. I'm so full of this meal! Although the portions are small, they add up to a small amount 😂😂. The breakfast is also good and beautiful, but the soup is not good, it is too salty. You can have a cup of coffee after eating☕️. The single hot spring room can be used by families or couples alone. There is a shopping street next to it, so those who want to buy things can have multiple choices.

The hotel is not big but very beautiful, the service is good, the food is very delicious, and the hot spring mineral content is high. Thank you to the restaurant staff for their patient and friendly Chinese, English and Japanese services, and thank you to the front desk lady for helping us contact the bus down the mountain on a snowy day. I want to come to this hotel again. Highly recommended.

I finally got to stay in a deluxe double-bedroom apartment in Japan! Compared to other hotels, it was more like an apartment, with kitchenware and separate toilet and washroom areas. The owner even gave me a bottle of mineral water, something other hotels don't offer. I arrived at Kagoshima Airport around 9 PM, long after public transportation had stopped. I had asked the hotel beforehand if there were still taxis at the airport at that time; a taxi ride to the hotel would cost about 2500-2600 yen. This area is only suitable for transit; it's quite remote. It seems the only direct bus to the airport is in the morning, but I couldn't get up early enough. Other buses take one or two hours, or even only run every two or three hours, and I didn't quite figure it out. There were no taxis on the streets; to find one, you had to ask the shopkeeper to book one for you or call a taxi company. The only nearby attraction was Kagoshima Shrine, but I took the bus to the entrance only to find I was running late for the airport shuttle, so I had to give up. The airport shuttle only accepts old yen if you don't have exact change. In short, transportation was difficult, but thankfully there was a convenience store nearby. If the boss sees this review, please fix the shed on the first floor. It's too noisy when it rains at night, and the raindrops hitting the shed are making it hard to sleep.

Environment: The hotel boasts an excellent environment, particularly with the in-room rotenburo (open-air bath). The private dining room adds to the exclusive feel. Its location within a quiet community ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay. Staff: A significant advantage for international travelers is the availability of English-speaking staff. Their willingness to communicate through messaging apps makes pre-arrival arrangements and on-site communication smooth and efficient. Transportation: Direct airport bus service to a nearby bus stop offers convenient access to the hotel. However, it's important to check the bus schedule in advance, as departures are infrequent. Planning accordingly will ensure a hassle-free transfer. Location: The hotel's location provides the convenience of being close to a convenience store, just a short five-minute walk away. This makes it easy to pick up any necessities or snacks. Pricing: The pricing is reasonable, especially when considering the exceptional amenities included. The private rotenburo is a luxurious highlight, and the inclusion of both a fabulous breakfast and an elaborate, multi-course dinner (12+ courses) represents excellent value.

I'm glad there's a hot spring and it's free to use. There's a coin laundry service. Everything on the breakfast buffet was delicious. I was glad they had chicken rice. I didn't get to try the ice cream or shaved ice, so I'd like to try those next time. The food at the restaurant was delicious, but I'm not sure how they serve the entire course meal in afternoon tea format. It would be nice if they offered more non-alcoholic drinks than just juices. It would be nice if they had more non-alcoholic cocktails. There's nothing nearby, but it's convenient because there's a decent selection of souvenirs. The bus to Kagoshima Airport is also a plus. I'd love to stay here again.

Overall, there is an outdoor public hot spring pool, and the room has a private pool. Breakfast and dinner are available. Food is not a buffet, but the hotel provides it. Only when the meal is opened on the same day, you know what food is provided. The taste is OK.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in is an old hot spring hotel. It is said to have been passed down from generation to generation. The Japanese-style garden design is very beautiful. The Japanese-style room we booked was very spacious and included breakfast and dinner. The hotel has its own farm and ingredients. They are all sourced from their own farms, and Wagyu beef can be delivered all over Japan. The breakfast is very exquisite, and for dinner you can enjoy Kaiseki dishes such as Wagyu beef and lobster. The dining service in the room is very good, and you can also choose to eat in the restaurant. The hotel service is very good, providing daily pick-up and drop-off services to the airport, Hayato Station, and Kokubu Station. The hotel staff will proactively ask if you need to make a reservation for pick-up every day, and provide one-on-one pick-up with high-end vehicles. There is free freshly ground coffee in the lobby and free minibars in the rooms. There is a private bath in the room, which can be used indoors or outdoors. The free public bath has three outdoor hot spring pools and one large indoor hot spring pool. The hot spring water is so hot that you will sweat after soaking in it for a while. It is a rare carbonated spring in Japan. Opposite the hotel is a large supermarket with a variety of Kagoshima specialties and fresh ingredients, as well as a convenience store. There is a young lady who can speak Chinese. The whole experience was very good, will definitely come again!
