Compare 5 airports near Koh Tao

Choosing the right airport to reach Koh Tao depends heavily on your budget, tolerance for ferry travel, and starting location. The nearest option, Samui Airport (USM), is in a neighboring city and offers the most convenient access for travelers prioritizing comfort, though it is often the most expensive to fly into. Surat Thani International Airport (URT) and Chumphon Airport (CJM), both in neighboring cities, are preferred by budget travelers and backpackers as they connect well with affordable, reliable bus-and-ferry combinations. For those coming from further afield in the south, Ranong Airport (UNN) and Kawthaung Airport (KAW) represent longer, more complex transit routes that are generally less efficient for a quick island getaway. Travelers should note that all arrivals require a final sea crossing, so booking joint tickets that include your pier transfer and ferry is highly recommended for a seamless experience. Always check current weather conditions as sea travel to Koh Tao can be affected, particularly during monsoon seasons.

Stayed in a hillside suite, lovely room and fantastic views. Staff were very friendly always helping with bags and there was a buggy to take up to our room. I rented a bike so got to hotel easy if not it is a little walk to the main area. There is a free shuttle to Sairee beach which is great and also a free shuttle to pier to get a ferry when leaving. The only negative is the pool was quite small and for the price and also would like a gym on site but of course booked knowing there wasn’t a gym so can’t be negative on that! Overall a great stay and would recommend. Thanks

The rooms have a rustic design but are full of thoughtful details, reflecting an eco-friendly and holiday-oriented concept. The hotel assigned us a very private room with a balcony overlooking the entire bay, and we even had occasional visits from small animals. While there isn't a private beach, there's a small pier within walking distance where you can swim and snorkel, and the water here is much clearer than the sandy areas next door. The hotel restaurant was a pleasant surprise; both the Thai and Western dishes were excellent, so there's no need to go out for meals. A exquisite and private hotel, highly recommended!

Jansom Bay / Sai Nuan Beach Koh Tao|2.68km from city center
Nice small resort not very far from the pier. 5mn walk from the pier but away from the noise. Beach on this side of the island is beautiful but not sure that the sea is very clean. Too many boats and resorts around. Very nice staff. Swimming pool should be clean more often: tree leaves in the pool. Good value for the quality, probably much more than the other resorts on the walking street. The other resorts on the other parts of the island are bets for the quality. Anyway it would cost you a lot to join them by taxi. And pay attention that by night, the roads by motobike are a bit complicated/dangerous.

Simple Life As the name suggests, there were all the best things that were not too luxurious. The room was big and very affordable. The pool is not big, but it was good. There was a pick-up and he came to pick me up, but for some reason I was asked to pay 50 baht on my way home. This was a defect in the ball. Others were good.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was great very modern and clean but the room was very far from the main road and nightlife and restaurants - they did warn on the booking that this room is the furthest away from the beach and they didn't lie. Luckily they have golf carts that can take you to the main road and back 24h but is a bit inconvenient. The pool near my room was very luxurious. I would definitely recommend this room if you're just looking for a place to lay your head while you're taking your time in the day to go snorkeling and diving.

The resort was in a fabulous location! Close to all the shops and restaurants without being in the thick of things! Lovely restaurant with really excellent food for lunch and dinner. You can even dine on the beach if the tide is out, which was so beautiful during sunset! Breakfast was simple but the eggs were fresh and there was always good coffee, yummy bread and fruit.  The service was amazing. Our a/c went out one day and the staff fixed it within a half hour. Everything was clean and the pool was nice. Scooter rentals right at the hotel if you’re brave enough. 😉

We had an amazing time there. I really have nothing bad to say about it.  First of all- the stuff. Always welcoming you with a smile and treating you with a personal attention. for example we told them we’re going to the beach and they offered us to borrow snorkeling masks for free. Also I got hurt in my leg and they really helped me to bandage it.  The most appreciated thing is that they heard our ferry back is at noon so they offered us late check out for free!  Beside that, the room is very clean, the view to the beach from the balcony is a big wow. the coffee at breakfast is just perfect.  Thank you so much guys ♥️♥️♥️ hope to come back someday.

Ao Thian Og Koh Tao|3.32km from city center
We had a pleasant stay at Beach Club by Haadtien, but with mixed feelings. The location is beautiful: a lovely bay in a peaceful setting. The room itself was fine and we appreciated the daily fresh towels (both for the bathroom and the beach/pool) as well as the complimentary bottled water. The food in the restaurant is also good, although we found it relatively expensive by Thai standards. At the same time there are several aspects that, especially given the price of the hotel, should be better. The sound insulation is very poor: you can literally understand what your neighbours are saying, and music as well as footsteps from the rooms above or adjacent are clearly audible. This makes getting a good night’s sleep more a matter of luck than comfort. In addition, the sliding door to the balcony did not close properly, which affects both comfort and the efficiency of the air conditioning which I thought was a pity, especially on an island where energy use should be taken seriously. Housekeeping and general maintenance could also be improved. In this price range, you would not expect to find squashed mosquitoes on the walls. The property and the room show signs of wear and tear in several places, such as broken tiles and damage to the floor. There was also quite a bit of plastic on the beach, although we realise this may not be entirely within the hotel’s control. The shuttle service to the village is a nice addition, but having to reserve it a day in advance makes it less flexible than you would hope. Overall conclusion: A beautifully located hotel with a good foundation, but it falls short in several important areas given the price. For us, this would be a reason to consider other options next time. Overall, we did not feel it was worth the money.

As an island hotel, I think it's well worth the experience. Built into the mountainside, facing the ocean and surrounded by lush greenery, each building has a different room type, all offering unobstructed views of the ocean and excellent privacy (Figures 1-3). The rooms are also unique. This time, we stayed in C6B, which had a separate bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. The room also made excellent use of the mountain's rock walls, creating a unique feel (Figures 4-10). A small path leads down to the beach (Figure 11), where you can snorkel or swim directly in the sea (there are three sun decks). Since the area is located in Shark Bay (a popular spot for sea turtles), you might spot a sea turtle if you're lucky. There are also many other fish, primarily parrotfish and yellow surgeonfish (Figures 12-16).

Sairee Beach Koh Tao|1.41km from city center
The room is spacious, well decorated, the service is quite warm, the view is very good, the scenery is amazing Facilities: lack of gym, can only regard mountain climbing as exercise... The hotel does not provide motorcycles, you can only rent them yourself, but you can't move without a motorcycle Sanitation: Not bad, there are occasionally small insects and geckos, but the impact is not big Environment: How to describe the environment, very primitive, it requires hard-core people with big hearts to stay. If the elderly and children want to go out, they have to call a taxi, which is relatively troublesome There is a big slope outside the hotel, so be careful when riding a motorcycle. If you don't ride a motorcycle, it will be very hard to climb up directly. Also, when you return to the hotel at night, pay special attention to lighting the stairs, because there may be some strange things

I stayed 5 days in The blue villa in Over The Moon. The location is great on a hillside overlooking the main bay and treetops. The Blue villa is decorated in a very nice and tasteful way with all modern amenities available. All is kept well and maintained and clean. Breakfast can be ordered by phone in restaurants nearby. The place is perfect for travelers who want luxury of a hotel but have their private time and space. Perfect for relaxing. Thanks to Giovanni and his team.

I'm not a believer, but I can tell you that paradise exists, and it's right here on Earth! Everything was perfect. Since I couldn't get around easily, I called reception, and literally two minutes later, a little taxi took us wherever we wanted to go—restaurants, the pool, the mini-market. The pool is incredible, truly paradise, just like I said. The staff were top-notch, the rooms spotless, and the views, wow! A big thank you to the whole team ❤️

Best experience ever, the location was nice, the room is splendid and the view, oh my gosh, awesome! Staff is nice, friendly, service are really good. I request a decoration in the room and they did it really nicely. One thing keep in mind is breakfast is mediocre, we are fine with it and the second day we just went out to have brunch in cafe in town instead. But this is so understandable. You need to have motorcycle to be able to comfortably traveling between hotel and the city, otherwise, it is a bit hussle if you need to wait for shutterbus.

Sairee Beach Koh Tao|1.8km from city center
I want to leave a review about this hotel. The location is good; the only downside is the loud music in the evening and late into the night coming from the central beach. The room has all the necessary toiletries, including earplugs and razors. The bungalow-style rooms are the best thing here, because overall there are significantly more negatives. The service is not very good — the staff at the reception and in the restaurant seem indifferent. The beach is a bit dirty, with a lot of small stones that make it uncomfortable to walk. The sea is very shallow, and you have to walk quite far to get deep enough to swim. If you just want to lie around and relax like a hippo, it might suit you. The food in the restaurant is of a low standard. The room costs almost $190 per night, but the variety of food is very limited, and the products don’t seem to be of good quality. Cheese at breakfast was even served in its packaging. The only thing that really saves this hotel is the view from the room. We chose an ocean view. The hotel also offers free snorkeling masks.
