What a splendid stay! Jason, his wife and the rest of the hotel staff are lovely. This is a family run boutique hotel, impeccably maintained, with excellent service and a convenient location near the Ping’an parking lot and about 10 minutes below Ping’an new town. The main sites of Seven Stars with Moon and Nine Dragons and Five Tigers are a leisurely 2 hour combined round-trip hike.
We had a 3rd floor room with a wonderful view of the mountains and lower rice fields, and the peaceful sound of the nearby waterfall. The restaurant is also excellent, serving the local delicacies like bamboo chicken. A bonus is Jason’s perfect English. I highly recommend Baike hotel. Thank you!FromUS$49

The location is great, just a seven or eight-minute walk from the Ping'anzhai observation deck. The scenery is absolutely stunning, surrounded by mountains. Opening the balcony door from your room feels like you're living in the clouds.
We went during the off-season, so there weren't many people. The guesthouse has a traditional Chinese architectural style, all solid wood, and the materials used are very substantial.
The only downside is that you have to park in a designated parking lot quite far from the hotel, pay a high parking fee, and then buy an electric cart ticket to get up there. You can clearly drive up yourself, which I found very confusing and inconvenient.FromUS$68

The hotel is very nice and clean, with spacious rooms. However, the internet connection in the mountains is poor. On the day we arrived, it rained, thundered, and the Wi-Fi was immediately disconnected. I could only watch TV shows using my data plan, but not the hotel TV. The hotel is located quite far from the Thousand-Layered Ladder and Xishan Shaole, on a separate mountain. If you're staying here and have mobility issues, I wouldn't recommend hiking to the observation decks. The climb up is entirely staircases, and it takes at least 2-3 hours to get there and back. You can ask the B&B owner if they can arrange a car rental for sunrise viewing. It's closer to the Golden Buddha Peak Observation Deck, but the hike also involves stairs, and following the signs takes 1-1.5 hours. The path is narrow, so be careful with your step. It's not recommended on rainy days, as it's easy to slip. You can take the cable car up, which offers great views. We also had the hotel's complimentary bacon, which was generous in portion, though a bit too salty for my taste. We also had the bamboo rice, which was lighter and flavorless, but okay. The rice wine was delicious, sweet and icy, and I loved it. We ended up getting up early to watch the sunrise, which was a beautiful sight. If you drive there, it's very convenient. It takes about 10 to 20 minutes to get to the viewing platforms from the Dazhai parking lot. However, there are many bends on the mountain, so be careful. There are also many mosquitoes on the mountain, so be sure to use insect repellent.FromUS$38

Seriously, what a find! This guesthouse is located at the highest point in Jinkeng Dazhai that's accessible by car, which saved us a lot of uphill walking. From here, it's just a 10-minute walk to Observation Deck No. 2 and 20 minutes to Observation Deck No. 1. The rooms are equipped with all sorts of high-tech facilities, spacious and comfortable, with a faint scent of tung oil. The large balcony offers direct views of the stunning rice terraces, perfect for time-lapse photography, or simply lounging around, daydreaming and sipping tea – a truly relaxing experience. We stayed here for two comfortable nights. The guesthouse even has an elevator, making it super convenient to get to the fourth floor. The owner's cooking is absolutely amazing, and even breakfast was very generous. They served complimentary homemade rice wine with every meal, and even gave us a souvenir when we left. The car will take you directly to the hotel entrance. The view is unbeatable as soon as you get out of the car. The owner said that it has been open for three years, but the facilities are still very new, as if it just opened recently. The place is also very clean. You can tell that everyone puts their heart into it. Also, the food cooked by the owner is super delicious. I originally thought there wouldn't be much good food in the mountains. I was planning to just make do and not eat anything, but the owner's wife was so enthusiastic and strongly recommended her dishes. So I followed her advice and ordered bamboo rice, chicken prepared in two ways, dried bamboo shoots stir-fried with cured meat, and rice-fish.
