Airport Guide
Compare 1 airports near Longyearbyen
For visitors traveling to the High Arctic, Svalbard Airport (LYR) serves as the primary and only public aviation gateway to Longyearbyen. This airport is located within the same city of Longyearbyen and handles all domestic flights connecting the archipelago to the Norwegian mainland. Travelers arriving here have a limited but efficient selection of ground transport. The airport bus is the most popular choice for budget-conscious passengers, as it is perfectly coordinated with all scheduled flight arrivals and departures to ensure no one is left behind. For those who prefer a more personalized or faster experience, local taxis are available, although it is highly advisable to book them in advance, especially during peak travel periods, due to the limited number of vehicles in operation. Because there are no roads connecting settlements outside the town, ground transport is focused entirely on local transit. Choosing the right option depends mostly on your budget and preference for shared or private vehicle transport, as all services are highly reliable and timed specifically to the airport's flight schedule.

Overall, my stay was satisfactory. The hotel's biggest advantage is its incredibly convenient location, with excellent amenities all around. There are endless food options and snacks within walking distance, making it super easy to shop and find restaurants – a true foodie's paradise. The only downside is that the soundproofing in the rooms isn't great. Noise from the hallway, doors closing next door, or even their TV can be quite noticeable, which unfortunately affected my sleep quality. In conclusion, the hotel's convenience and accessibility are outstanding, offering great value for money. I highly recommend it for heavy sleepers, but if you're a light sleeper, make sure to bring earplugs!FromUS$221

I got quite lucky because even though I booked a shared 4-person dorm for 2 nights, I ended up having the room to myself both nights. So, it's hard to give a completely honest review of the experience since I practically stayed in a single room with two bunk beds. 😅
But I liked this place regardless. I found the rooms and restrooms to be clean, the staff friendly, and the breakfast really good. I also liked that the place was a bit secluded and in an even quieter spot. The walk to the city center took about 20 minutes, which was a very pleasant and scenic route!
I'd say the value for money is spot on!
P.S. I've included a picture I took from an upstairs window of the accommodation, looking towards the city center.FromUS$57

Excellent, highly recommended.
I stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were small, but the common areas were very spacious and comfortable. Even if you didn't go out sightseeing, just sitting on the sofa was enjoyable. The restaurant and breakfast were also very good, with comfortable decor. We happened to be there on a snowy day, so we could enjoy breakfast while watching the snow fall. Although the bathrooms were shared, there were many stalls, so there was basically no wait. They were clean and spacious. The location was okay, a bit far from the city center, about a 15-minute walk. You need to cross a river behind the guesthouse, which offers a different view. I would recommend this place more than a hotel!FromUS$151

Our room was quite spacious. Although it featured shared bathrooms, our floor conveniently had four, and they were all impeccably maintained by guests. A laundry room and a kitchen are also available on-site. The property itself is spread across multiple buildings. Breakfast was excellent! While it's a bit of a distance from the city center, the journey there offers some lovely scenic views.FromUS$95
