What airports are closest to Makkah?

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is the nearest gateway, located 71.8763 km from Makkah, offering a seamless 60 minutes journey via the Haramain High-Speed Railway. This modern transport hub is highly recommended for its efficiency, particularly for international travelers seeking to minimize transit time. Meanwhile, Taif International Airport (TIF) is situated 75.4549 km away in a neighboring city, typically requiring a 70 minutes taxi ride through mountainous terrain to reach the city center. Because of its location, Taif is best suited for regional visitors, whereas Jeddah provides a more robust infrastructure for the majority of travelers. Travelers planning their journey to Makkah have two primary gateways to consider, though neither is located within Makkah city itself. For most international and domestic arrivals, King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) serves as the primary gateway, situated in the neighboring city of Jeddah. It is generally the preferred choice due to the significantly more diverse transport infrastructure, including the high-speed rail network which provides a streamlined and efficient connection to Makkah. In contrast, Taif International Airport (TIF), located in the nearby city of Taif, serves mainly domestic routes and requires a longer, more mountainous road journey to reach the city center. While Taif may be a suitable alternative for specific regional itineraries, it lacks the direct high-speed rail access found at Jeddah. We recommend prioritizing travel through Jeddah for the widest range of service providers and faster transit options, while reserving Taif for travelers who specifically need to access the Taif region or who find significantly more convenient flight timings that justify the longer ground transfer.

1. My stay at this hotel in Makkah was truly one of the most wonderful experiences I have had. Everything was exceptional, and what stood out the most was the cheerful attitude of the staff and the warmth of their hospitality. Their kindness and dedication genuinely make you feel happy and welcomed from the very first moment. They go above and beyond to serve guests and make the stay as smooth and comfortable as possible, especially the reception team, who were incredibly professional, helpful, and courteous. 2. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options, and the room was absolutely amazing—beautiful, comfortable, and prepared to a very high standard. 3. One of the most outstanding features of this hotel, especially if you choose the Gold stay option, is the private prayer area overlooking the Kaaba. This is truly a remarkable privilege, as it allows you to perform all your prayers in a peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. In addition, there is a private entrance and dedicated elevators that take you directly to the Haram, which adds an exceptional level of convenience and comfort to the entire experience. 4. The afternoon lounge was also excellent, both in terms of atmosphere and service. I was especially impressed by the female staff there, who were highly dedicated, respectful, modest, and genuinely committed to providing outstanding service. 5. In short, this was a truly memorable stay in every way. My sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff for their hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail. I will definitely stay at this hotel again many times in the future, and they have my warmest regards and gratitude.

Assalam, we are from Brunei Darussalam (Asian Country). We stay there for 4 days. Location from gate King Abdul Aziz is 5 min walk. Room is very nice, clean & comfort. Less noise room walkway cos our is at level 21. View is amazing beautiful (kaabah view, have to pay extra). Breakfast is included & food is great. Staff is friendly, helpful & good looking. The elevator is well organised according to room level. The hotel is next to zam zam tower shopping mall. The basement will always have taxi waiting for thus who want to go out of haram area such as to masjid aiysah to do miqat. We’ll come back to stay there again ☺️

I would recommend the stay here for the proximity to haram. However, house keeping needs to do better. Our sheets were not changed for days we had to complain twice. They apologized and fixed up.

Everything was quiet, peaceful, and very clean. The staff were polite, the transfer was excellent, and breakfast was good. Overall, it's a good hotel with soft bedding, no unnecessary fuss, and convenient appliances. There's even an iron and ironing board, which is handy and quite rare. There's a beautiful mosque within walking distance, which is very convenient and comfortable when it's hot outside. The hotel also has a great spot for relaxation and prayer.

Late check-in is a big issue. This is the only hotel in the world that tells you to leave and come back to ask if your room is ready before 4 PM. The reception staff are just fobbing you off. It would have been much better if they had told us straight away that early check-in before 4 PM was not possible, or at least said they would call us when the room was ready. The lobby is full of dust between the chairs and under the tables. You can't even get into the restroom or the prayer room without a key card. The service was incredibly frustrating.

Pros. Easy walk to gate 79. Less congested that clock tower area. The advantage to the stay was having pretty large room! The 2 queen beds are relatively big enough and they added an extra bed for my teenage girl. Convenience. Ratio cafe downstairs can be hyped for. The pistachio latte is a must have. Romansiah restaurant also in the building. A must have when you’re here. Close walk to Dawood. Food selection need to be improved both bf and dinner. If you’re particular abt food, Hyatt Regency Jabal Omar serves better spread and standard. Staff checkedin didn’t inform the 2 different restaurants for both bf and dinner G floor and M floor. Apparently we were directed wrongly by them assuming we are group agency and the food was low quality 3 star standard. Then went around asking but found out we were directed wrongly by the front desk. Range was bit better but still need improvement for a 5 star hotel. I think the major improvement the hotel has to do is change the bath towels!! They are so overly worn off and overly used and looked like it’s been used to clean the floors. Pls use fluffy maintained towels. It’s the highlight of quality for amenities. The drainage also slow and tend to choke up. 7 nights isn’t the best there but the space is good.

An unforgettable stay at Raffles Makkah Palace. The Panoramic One-Bedroom Suite with Kaaba View exceeded all expectations. Waking up to the breathtaking view of the Holy Kaaba was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The suite was spacious, luxurious, and impeccably maintained. Service was exceptional, breakfast was excellent, and the direct access to Masjid al-Haram made our Umrah journey incredibly comfortable. Worth every penny for the view, comfort, and memories. We would definitely stay here again, insyaAllah. ❤️

A truly exceptional stay at the Park Inn by Radisson, Aziziah. What made this experience deeply memorable was the genuine warmth and superb hospitality of the team—most notably Mr. Mohmued Zeine and Miss Hayam, whose care and attentiveness stood out. Location-wise, it strikes a perfect balance: it is within close proximity to Masjid al-Haram, yet surrounded by a vibrant neighborhood filled with essential conveniences like restaurants, shops, and pharmacies. An absolute recommendation for travelers seeking comfort and excellent service

Honestly, its location is excellent and close to the Haram, which is what makes it special. However, unfortunately, it hasn't been renovated since it opened in 2006. 🥲 I've stayed there several times with my family, but the carpets, furniture, bathrooms, and paint haven't been changed. And sadly, the menu hasn't been updated or improved. The food quality is poor, and their prices are always high. Even the buffet for lunch and dinner has better equipment than other hotels 🏨 with lower prices. As for the reception, I think the staff needs more training because there are always issues with payment when checking out, and also after the minibar inspection.
