Our stay at Shangri-La was absolutely wonderful! The hotel's location is excellent, and our room was spotless with comfortable bedding. The oxygen supply system was a thoughtful touch, especially for us as first-timers to a high-altitude area. The breakfast spread in the restaurant was impressive, with a wide variety of fresh ingredients and many local specialties, all served in a clean and pleasant dining environment.
A special shout-out to Vivian, whose service was both professional and incredibly warm. She patiently shared many tips for dealing with altitude sickness and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. Her meticulous and attentive assistance made us feel truly cared for. Every aspect of our stay, from the room and dining to the guest services, was spot on. Our trip felt so much more secure and comfortable thanks to their thoughtful care. Facilities: Excellent, but since the hotel is located on a hillside, I'd recommend driving or taking a taxi. Walking back uphill can be a bit tiring.
Breakfast offered a great variety. Besides Shangri-La's special butter tea, they even had Cantonese spareribs and chicken feet. The fruit was also very sweet. My only minor complaint is that the waffles should come with a side of cream; the InterContinental Lijiang has this, and it's essential for waffles.
Service: The service was fantastic. When I was eating fried dried beef with mushrooms at the hotel restaurant, I found a little sand in the mushrooms. I mentioned it, and the hotel manager immediately waived the cost of the fried rice. Interestingly, that fried dried beef with mushrooms was actually the best dish, highly recommended.
Also, it happened to be my friend's birthday this trip. I initially wanted to order a cake from the hotel, but since there were only two of us, we wanted a small one so we wouldn't be too full after dinner. The handsome front desk staff member immediately said they provide small cakes for free and even decorated the room, which was wonderful. Many thanks to him (pictured in image 15).
Of course, another lovely lady at the front desk also had a great attitude.

This guesthouse truly exceeded our expectations. The bedding was thoughtfully chosen, and everything was very clean. What stood out most was the excellent service. We hiked to Halfway from the guesthouse, and then the owner kindly picked us up for free to have lunch back at the guesthouse. This level of activity was perfect for families with children and elderly members. The food was also fantastic; the chicken soup was particularly good. We didn't finish it all, so we asked the owner to turn the leftovers into chicken noodle soup for us the next morning. The owner's wife was already waiting for us outside the high-speed train station, and she kindly helped us with our heavy luggage and took us to the hotel. She thoughtfully advised us on what to look out for in Shangri-La to avoid altitude sickness. The hotel also offers electric scooters for rent at 50 RMB per day. I rented one to go to Napa Lake, and the owner's wife kindly reminded me to bring extra clothes because it would be colder there. It was a lifesaver that I did, as I was shivering from the cold. The hotel also has many shawls available for free use. In the evening, we also booked a local ******* feast with the owner's wife; the seating arrangements were excellent, and the visual effect was superb. When checking out, the owner's wife told me to cancel my Didi (ride-sharing app) as she would provide a free ride to the high-speed train station. The rooftop viewing platform offers panoramic views of the stunning scenery. The room was clean and tidy, and aside from being a little small, I couldn't find any faults. What's especially commendable is the restaurant – great food at reasonable prices. They offer a wide variety of Chinese and Western dishes, so there's definitely something for everyone. Everything is made fresh to order, no pre-made meals, and even the dough is kneaded on the spot. Plus, the food comes out surprisingly fast – a truly excellent experience. Turns out, even before I arrived, the owner called to remind me to bring sunscreen and arranged for someone to pick us up and help with our luggage. Upon entering, we were greeted with luo han guo and osmanthus tea, snacks, and fruit. Afternoon tea featured traditional Beijing pastries from Daoxiangcun. In the evening, I found everything I needed right at hand when getting ready. In the morning, the sunlight slowly streamed in, warming the entire room. Sitting by the window, I drifted into a daze, clearing my mind of everything. At that moment, all my fatigue melted away. This must be a magical garden! I love this camp so much! I can't praise it enough! Every corner is beautiful! We stayed in a large tent, and the view was incredible. Haba Snow Mountain was right across the street. The tent was fully equipped with everything, including a heater, electric blanket, and a comfortable mattress. The wooden bathroom outside the tent also had L'Occitane toiletries, face towels, and a toilet seat. And best of all, Haba Snow Mountain was right outside the window (۶ꈨຶꎁꈨຶ). Also, there's their own cafe right next to the campsite, and the coffee, sparkling water, and snacks were all delicious! Breakfast was noodles, eggs, apple slices, corn, and milk! So filling and delicious! The owner is so handsome and beautiful! And our adorable dog, Dai Meng, is so sweet! He's always there to play with us and even comes to our tent in the morning to call us to breakfast! His fur is soft and his bones are strong—he's a perfect dog (˃ ⌑ ˂ഃ). Shangri-La has significant temperature swings, so it's convenient to return to the hotel anytime to change clothes, grab things, or rest. The hotel's decor has a lot of local character. If you're not too particular about accommodation standards, it's worth experiencing. Although it's in the heart of the old town, it's very quiet at night. Upon check-in, you're offered a Hada (******* ceremonial scarf) and ginger tea.
Breakfast includes savory butter tea, and in the evening, they provide highland barley bread and yak milk. The highland barley bread is quite tasty. One day when we went to Meili, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a packed breakfast for us.

I arrived at Banyan Tree Ringha completely exhausted. Was a long road trip day from Lijiang.
The first night was not exactly magical. I barely ate dinner, had to postpone my spa appointment because I wasn’t feeling well, and somehow ended up holding an all-night conference with a fly in my villa. Needless to say, I barely slept.
But somewhere along the way, the entire stay started to turn around.
The staff quietly took care of things without making a show of it. My unfinished dinner was delivered back to my room. When I couldn’t find transportation the next morning because of the resort’s remote location, the front desk found a driver for me within 30 minutes. Even my personal concierge had been around me much of the time before I realized who she was.
Then came the spa.
My therapist, 拉姆, had what I can only describe as healing hands. The treatment went far beyond physical relaxation — it felt mental, emotional, and almost spiritual. I travel extensively and have stayed at many exceptional hotels, but Banyan Tree Spa genuinely exceeded its reputation for me.
That night, I had the best sleep I’d had in nearly two weeks.
The resort itself is not about excess. The dining selection may not be as elaborate as some of the world’s grandest five-star hotels, but somehow that suited the place perfectly.
There was something about the property I still find difficult to explain — the mountains, the silence, the space, the people, perhaps even the energy of the land itself. It felt as though the entire place had quietly wrapped itself around me. Nothing dramatic happened; it simply seemed to work on me little by little, allowing me to slow down, breathe again, and heal in a way I had not expected.
On my final morning, I did a stretch class, enjoyed the photo shoot included with my stay, and took advantage of a late checkout so there was no rush to leave. The same driver who had helped me the day before picked me up again, took me through the remaining half of my itinerary, and somehow got me to the airport just in time for my flight.
I arrived exhausted and restless.
I left rested, grounded, and somehow lighter.
Sometimes the most memorable hotels are not the ones that simply impress you.
