Great location in Stonetown. The hotel room was clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was great. Areas for improvement is the average service at the hotel. Room AC wasn’t cooling the room well and front desk said they didn’t have any alternative rooms that night. Plumbing issue was not addressed promptly when brought up with the front desk. Great location From Zanzibar to Dar es Salem in front of Ferry Terminal Baru, It's convenient. I was happy that the lip reception manager welcomed me. I went to my family. I booked 2 rooms and thank the friendly staff for arranging the room next to my room. There is a fresh fish market nearby. You can walk to it. If you go to Zanzibar the next opportunity It is hotel which wants furniture again I ordered breakfast. I have boiled eggs with fruit and cheese. Room, Balcony, View from the room and Restaurant is really nice. But only one thing they need to improve in their reception customer service.
Room I signed when I check in and Room I really received was different. They changed the room without notice. I asked why they said it's same room inside. But it was totally different. Changed room has no privacy at all. We have to close the window during the stay.
And I asked for late check out when I check in. They told me to check last day in the morning. In last day, I asked again for 2hrs late check out. They refused my request even didn't check the system. Just say NO. I am very disappointed with their attitude. And when I checked the site there were plenty room left.
As everyone knows Zanzibar is the holiday place. Most of 5 star hotels in holiday place, they run check out time very flexible due to flight time. No deserve to have 5 stars in customer service.FromUS$301

Advantages: Hotel located at the port which allows you to explore the entire old town on foot. The room is nice and spacious and the bathroom was generally clean. The staff is very pleasant. Breakfast is pretty good (especially the egg menu items) and the one dinner we had there was excellent. The view from the rooftop is magnificent.
Disadvantages:
The neighborhood is very noisy and the room (303) was under the rooftop restaurant so there was a lot of noise until at least 11pm and from 6am in the morning.

The hotel's location is good, in Stone Town, convenient for getting around. The room was a special offer, in a side building, quite small, and without an elevator. Service was average. These are all acceptable.
The most outrageous thing was that the hotel fan snapped the mosquito net off at night! Then the metal chain connecting the net was also torn off! It was very dangerous when it was thrown out.
We immediately called the front desk to explain the situation, but they just sent someone to remove the net.
The next day at checkout, we told the front desk again. They just gave a perfunctory ”sorry.” No compensation was offered, and no explanation was given!

The hotel was really clean. They let us check in early. There was even an evening service where they sprayed our room for bugs and pull down the mosquito net around our bedding. The breakfast was really good. Every morning I had French toast, cheese, omelette, chicken, sausage, potatoes, and masala chai tea. The location is really good– at the centre of Stonetown. Utterly enchanting- from our 5am arrival until our departure 3 days later we were looked after so incredibly well. The hotel organised our airport pickup and opened up with a gentle tap (you may need help to find it as it’s in the narrow streets of old Stonetown). The front of house was superb and Peter took care of us. The hotel has so much atmosphere, full of antiques and lush vegetation. Breakfast is in the roof balcony. Excursions can be organised. I had read a few unpleasant reviews but I can’t think why, cleanliness was first class and the hospitality was outstanding. The location is at the quiet side if the Stone Town. Due to it is situated inside a small alley, the directions could be quite complicated and we were lost several times to head back to the hotel. Despite being assured that it's safe, we were tapped by few mischievous children when we passed by a school near the hotel. That said, the room and hotel itself was great. We particularly enjoyed the breeze at the open air loft, where we could view the sea and ships from far away. It was indeed relaxing. The historical bed and bath in the room made the experience so unique. The only downside was there was insufficient of hot water for the bath. The breakfast wise was in fact the best we had in Tanzania, not to mention the impeccable hospitality provided by the staff there. Special shout out to the helpful staff who assisted us with our luggage during check in and out. Bear in mind on the steep staircase up to the room and inside the room to the loft. It might not be suitable for those who have knee problem, as you literally need to climb up and down everytime to the washroom. Otherwise, it was quite a memorable stay.FromUS$115

Hotel location is very good and convenient for me to shop and walk around Stone Town. Very cosy and warm hotel. Love the vibe and atmosphere of the area. JAWS corner was just a few steps away. Breakfast dining at the roof top is just perfect although the food can be better.
