The Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin is probably the best value-for-money Four Seasons I've stayed at. I booked a Four Seasons Suite during the National Day holiday, and the price was very reasonable. From the window, you can enjoy the beautiful night view, and the location is superb, with many core attractions within walking distance. The hotel service was excellent, especially when we carelessly left behind our custom-made massage ball. This hotel is quite old. The rooms with private hot springs are in Liquan Bay, which is separate from the main building. The front desk staff couldn't even find a key card holder and didn't tell us the hot spring opening hours or breakfast times; we had to ask ourselves. The bathrobes and razors we ordered via QR code never arrived, even by the time we checked out. However, the hot spring pools are good, and the weekend activities were interesting. We couldn't find the swimming pool or children's slide area, so maybe we'll bring our kids next time. It's indeed very close to Happy Valley and Maya Beach, and parking is convenient, which makes it worth booking again. I took my child to Tianjin for a two-day weekend trip. After a long search on Ctrip, I chose Novotel. It's quite close to Tianjin Station, about a 10-yuan taxi ride, and there are bus and subway stations nearby, as well as restaurants and malls. The location is pretty good.
We arrived at the hotel around 11 am on Saturday to check in. We booked a family room, and luckily there was one available, so the front desk processed our check-in. Since our high-speed train back to Beijing was at around 4 pm on Sunday afternoon, I wanted a late check-out. They extended it from 12 pm to 2 pm for an additional 99 yuan and also gave us an extra breakfast.
After checking in, we only received two sets of adult toiletries. I felt the hotel wasn't very kid-friendly, as they didn't provide children's toiletries. The children's play area was also barely worth mentioning.
The room was divided into an inner and outer section, and the layout was decent. The cleanliness was also good. However, my child was stunned when they looked out the window – it was full of various air conditioner outdoor units (see pictures 1, 2, and 3). I've been booking hotels on Ctrip for many years, and usually, they don't arrange rooms on relatively low floors. I haven't stayed in a room with absolutely no view like this in years. I wonder if it was because we checked in a bit early that we were assigned this room. Since we were only staying for one night, we just went with it.
As for the hotel's facilities, most things in the room were fine. However, the hotel elevators were incredibly slow, and I have no idea what brand they were. Even on a regular weekend when it's not that busy, we had to wait for ages every time. It's hard to imagine what it would be like during peak holiday seasons. Also, because our room was on the 3rd floor and the restaurant on the 2nd, there was always a smell of kitchen waste in the hallway, and the curtains let in a lot of light (picture 4).
Now, about breakfast. In a city like Tianjin, where delicious food is everywhere, 98 yuan per person for breakfast felt genuinely overpriced. I can only say that it had everything you'd expect and was filling.
When we checked in on Saturday, we extended our check-out to 2 pm on Sunday. When we came back from our outing on Sunday, around 1 pm, we found our room card had expired. I don't understand why, even though we paid extra for a late check-out upon arrival, the room card system still expired at 12 pm! We had to go all the way to the front desk to sort it out!
Based on the above points, although the hotel has many advantages, if I go to Tianjin again, I probably wouldn't choose Novotel, as I didn't feel valued.FromUS$55

It is a decent travellers’ hotels in the heart of Tianjin’s tourist areas. It is a bit like Ibis or Holiday Inn and it is a Chinese brand of hotel chains. I like the friendliness of the staff, not just the front desks but also the restaurants, cleaning staff. Even the cleaning staff would always greet you (this is not something common for a mid-range Chinese hotels). They are nice and approachable but same time wouldn’t make you feel patronised. The breakfast was reasonable and many like that it goes till 12pm and there are free night light meals. These suit different people’s lifestyle.
The rooms are clean enough and amenities are sufficient and well maintained. There was a bit of weird smell in my room. The hotel was keen to check and make necessary adjustments.

This hotel is right across from the Northwest Corner morning market, making it super convenient to grab breakfast – just walk across the street. The room was incredibly spacious, which the kids loved. Manager Feng from housekeeping was very responsible and even helped me upgrade my room type. After returning home from Tianjin, my daughter couldn't find her small doll and was really upset. I contacted Manager Feng, and she immediately helped me find it. It was such a tiny, inconspicuous doll, but the fact that they had kept it safe for so many days really touched me. Thank you on behalf of my child! I've stayed at this hotel many times, and its location is absolutely superb! It faces the Haihe River directly. Turn left and cross the river, and you'll find the Italian Style Street. Turn right and cross the river, and you'll be at Tianjin Station and Jinwan Plaza. Behind the building are Henglong Plaza and Binjiang Avenue. It's arguably the most convenient hotel location in Tianjin's core area, perfect for those who come to Tianjin for dining, drinking, and sightseeing. The hotel's overall service is quite decent. Although a bit 'dated,' the Shangri-La, as a seasoned five-star hotel, remains reliably excellent. From the polite and efficient concierge to the front desk staff, everyone was courteous and well-organized. This time, I only booked a standard room, but the Haihe River view and scenery from both rooms were fantastic, and the night view was unbeatable.
The hotel's location is also superb, right next to Kerry Parkside, which is perfect for grabbing coffee, fruits, or other small essentials. Just across the street is Dawangzhuang Station on Line 9, only two subway stops away from the Italian Style Street scenic area. You can also walk along the Haihe River to the high-speed rail station and Jinwan Square, and it's very convenient to get to Jiefangbei Road on the opposite side. Additionally, as a large residential community, Dawangzhuang offers a wide variety of restaurants, and the few I tried this time were all quite good.

This was my third stay at this hotel, and its location by the Hai River is excellent. The night view is beautiful! It's within walking distance to attractions like the Tianjin Eye, Italian Style Street, Ancient Culture Street, and the Former Residence Memorial Hall of Li Shutong. It's also very close to the Hai River sightseeing boat pier. As soon as you enter the lobby, you're greeted by a soothing essential oil aroma. The rooms are very spacious, and the cleanliness is impeccable! The breakfast is rich and varied, with many local specialty dishes and a wide array of ice cream flavors. After each checkout, the Front Office Manager and Duty Manager send a message to inquire about the stay experience, encouraging us to provide any suggestions for improvement. During this stay, I was in a hurry to catch an early high-speed train and accidentally left two thermoses in the room. The Front Office Manager contacted me via both text and call, and even offered to send them back without us having to pay for shipping. This kind of service truly makes you feel at home! First off, by my standards, this hotel is absolutely worth it – a five-star rating!
1. The location is excellent, very convenient for transportation. It's about a five-minute walk to the Haihe River, and similarly five minutes to the Wudadao area and Xiaobailou metro station.
2. The room's cleanliness is impeccable, truly spotless. Even though the decor shows its age, the housekeeping team keeps it unbelievably clean.
3. Parking is free.
4. The breakfast is also delicious with a wide variety of options; they pretty much have everything you could want.
5. The value for money is exceptional, especially for a family like mine with two adults and two children. Finding suitable rooms can be tough, but they offer one-bedroom apartment suites that allow for an extra bed, and come with a fridge and washing machine. Everything was very clean and odor-free.

I came to Tianjin for a short trip and specifically chose the Astor Hotel after watching a video by a local guide. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a century-old establishment. Upon check-in, I received a complimentary room upgrade. From the moment I walked in, I felt the thoughtful service – a staff member escorted me all the way to my room, providing attentive service throughout. The room was in a classic Victorian style, both retro and elegant. The four-poster bed with drapes was an absolute favorite of mine. Every detail exuded the charm of an old hotel, and even a humidifier was provided, making for a very comfortable stay. The museum downstairs is also well worth a visit; it truly conveys the profound hundred-year history of this hotel. The preserved old artifacts, combined with the sense of time from a foreign-managed hotel, make you feel as if you can touch the stories of the hotel's more than a century of existence – it's very moving. Unfortunately, my trip was too short; I only slept one night and had to leave, so I didn't have time to fully savor the experience, which is a pity.

I was very satisfied with this room type. The room service staff were very polite. I'd suggest having a butler, which would be even better. The downside is that the dinner buffet wasn't great. I love trying buffets at various large hotels, and this one was the second worst I've had recently, with Beijing Hotel being the absolute worst. There were too few stir-fried dishes. Even if there were two crabs, it couldn't make up for the lack of variety. I think if cost is an issue, they could cancel the lunch buffet and only offer dinner. We chose this hotel for our family trip to Tianjin with the kids, and its location was a huge plus. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Ancient Culture Street, and in the evening, we enjoyed a stroll along the Haihe River, taking in the illuminated Tianjin Eye. On weekends, there were 'little sheep' mascots in the lobby for the kids to interact with, which they loved, and complimentary fruit was available. Environment: Nice, very convenient for getting around.
Service: Every staff member was patient, meticulous, and enthusiastic. The parking attendant outside the lobby was also very thoughtful.
Couples Hot Spring: The hot spring and pool were great. The water temperature of all the pools was satisfactory. One of the pools had excellent bubble massage that really helped relieve fatigue.
Breakfast: The pancakes were super delicious, and there were many other varieties as well. The noodles were good, and the fried dough sticks were freshly made (though I didn't try them, they looked good). The breakfast restaurant had a great atmosphere.
Originally, breakfast was supposed to end at 10 AM, but the staff thoughtfully reminded us that they extended it by half an hour, closing at 10:30 AM.
It's about an hour and 40 minutes from Beijing, roughly 120 kilometers. The drive was smooth with no traffic.
