After two-and-a-half weeks in Western Mongolia, my friend and I treated ourselves to two nights at the Kemnpinski before returning to our homes. The room was spacious and spick-and-span clean. The bedsheets were exchanged already after one night. The dinner at the Japanese restaurant was wonderful in a private room that allowed us in-depth conversation reminiscing about our experiences. The second night we treated ourselves to massages and facials at the spa - the best we have experienced in hotels. A really excellent hotel! The reception staff are so friendly and professional, and they speak very good English. They helped give me directions to nearby ATMs and also called a taxi service for me to go to the airport on my last day. The room was always very clean and the bed was comfortable. They have a laundry service that is quite cheap, and it was very convenient - you just have to put your dirty clothes in a bag and give it to reception, and they will return it to your room (usually on the same day). The breakfast was also delicious - a combination of a cooked breakfast, fruits, yoghurts, salad, cereals and cakes, along with tea, coffee and juice. The Ultimate Host: The biggest highlight of our stay was the resort owner, who is incredibly friendly, accommodating, and speaks fluent English. Having a host you can communicate with easily in the wilderness is a game-changer. There is absolutely no need to join a rigid group tour; the owner quickly arranged a private driver for us (at our own expense) to visit nearby attractions like Turtle Rock and the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. It allowed us to customize our own itinerary and enjoy total freedom.
The Vibe & Accommodation: The resort is beautifully designed with a sleek, modern wooden main building. We stayed in a Duplex Dome, which offered incredible space and a skylight for stargazing. The biggest luxury was the private, clean bathroom with excellent hot water and separate wet/dry areas—a rare find that completely redefines the typical Mongolian camping experience! The resort sits in a peaceful valley surrounded by majestic rock formations and roaming horses, giving it a dreamy, ”Little Switzerland” feel.

The breakfast was delicious, with two sausages, two slices of bread, some fruit and vegetables, and hot tea. The bedding was very comfortable, which greatly improved my sleep quality. I stayed at Grand Hill Hotel Ulaanbaatar for five nights in November 2025. During my stay, I experienced a serious issue that was handled in a highly unprofessional manner, which significantly affected my trust in the hotel.
I had placed a sentimental hoodie in the wardrobe of my room. On the third day, due to very cold weather, I wore other coats when going out. I can confirm, based on all photos taken that day, that the hoodie was not taken out of the room. However, upon returning that evening, the hoodie was missing. At the same time, one of the two hotel bathrobes originally in the wardrobe was also gone.
I immediately reported this to the reception. The male staff member on duty initially stated that it was “impossible” for the hotel or housekeeping to have taken any items. Only after repeated requests did he contact the housekeeping staff, who denied taking anything. He promised to review CCTV footage the following day.
When I followed up the next day, other reception staff said they had no record or handover of the incident and asked me to wait until the same staff member returned in the evening. Only then was the CCTV reviewed. I was informed that the camera angle did not cover the room entrance, and no further investigation or follow-up was offered.
Throughout the process, there was no clear investigation procedure, written response, or proactive assistance. Instead, the communication repeatedly implied that the issue might have been the guest’s responsibility. This approach lacked transparency, accountability, and basic respect for a paying guest.

Before coming here, I was a little nervous after reading the reviews, worried that there would be various problems, but now I can say with confidence that this is a hotel that you can stay in with confidence.
The price is not high in Ulaanbaatar, and the location is relatively superior. There is a shopping mall under construction across the street, and it is a 20-minute walk from the central city. The hotel also has its own cafe on the first floor, where you can rest for a while. It is more conspicuous from a distance, but it is a bit winding when walking, and it is not so easy to find. There is a sign of a Korean restaurant on the first floor, which is confusing. There are other high-rise buildings near the hotel, but they do not block the view seriously.
It is 4km away from the train station, about 40 minutes walk. When we arrived at around 10:30, the hotel was very considerate and checked in in advance. The room is large and refreshing, the bed is soft, there is 24h hot water (not necessarily available in Mongolian hotels), a large bathtub, comfortable towels, and the quality of the shower gel provided is also good.
The problem is that there are too few sockets. There are two in the whole room, and one is in the bathroom...not very convenient. One is that there is no room service. Because I only stayed for two nights and communication was inconvenient, I did not ask for cleaning.

We booked a Deluxe King-size room, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a beautiful view over the city, which we really enjoyed, especially in the evenings. The bed was large and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day of exploring.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with any requests and making us feel at home throughout our stay. Their attitude really added to the overall positive impression of the hotel.

We switched from another hotel and found this one to be excellent value for money. The location is great, not far from the city center, and there are several supermarkets nearby. There's also a restaurant downstairs where you can eat and drink. A special shout-out to Narakas at the hotel – she studied Chinese in China, and we relied on her for any difficulties.
