Dallas has plenty of parks to offer you rest while in the city but Pioneer Plaza is just a little different. There are bronze sculptures that run through a large section of the park, displaying three cowboys driving longhorn cattle.

This is a cool place to walk around. It is neat how they have the statues of the cattle in a stampede formation coming down the hill. I definitely recommend checking it out.

A true reminder of how it used to be in Texas -- what's more Texan than a cattle drive. Authentic, well done life-sized animals and cowboys in bronze -- captured while drive is in progress. Loved th...

Pioneer Plaza is delightful for people of all ages to explore. You can climb and play on the larger-than-life sculptures of cattle in the park. If you want to have your picture taken by one of the huge bronze longhorns, then that is possible too. Mixed in with the sculptures are a small waterfall and creek that are fun to explore. You can take a walk on the gravel path that offers trees and flowers that are native to the area. You can also explore the cemetery where former Dallas mayors and Texas Revolution leaders are buried.

Pioneer plaza is an outdoor art experience. It's also a great place to take photos for locals and tourists alike!
This bronze sculpture commemorates the many trails (Shawnee and Chisolm) that brought settlers to the land that is now known as Dallas. It's difficult to show the enormity of this art piece in photos, so it is best to walk along the many steers and 3 cowboys leading them. The cattle flow over the hillside, and I felt like I could feel the rumble of the earth from all their weight and power.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Pioneer Plaza Cattle Drive. One had the distinct feeling that you were transported back to the times of the Chisolm Trail. Looking forward to going back to Dallas and seeing the Pioneer Plaza once again.
2nd most visited Dallas tourist attraction. Commemorates The Shawnee Cattle Trail that started in south central Texas via Dallas to Kansas City back before Dallas had railroads Currently, 49 longhorn steers and three cowboys on horseback bronze statutes larger than life-size. No duplicates. Steers no less than 6 feet tall; cowboys, 10 - 16 feet high. Remarkable detail. Spread out over 4.5 acres. Free. Recommended. .
