Madaba is a city with a history of more than 3,000 years. The city has changed hands many times in history. It has been ruled by Egyptians, Jews, Greeks and Muslims. During the Byzantine period, mosaic art flourished in churches. It can be seen in public buildings and in private homes. The ancient Madaba City was destroyed by the earthquake and the city is now rebuilt. There are hundreds of mosaic mosaics in Madaba City buried in the underground of church houses in the city, most of which have a history of more than 1,400 years. The most famous of Madaba is the 16th-century Byzantine mosaic map, a map of Palestine, built in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in the 5th century. The mosaic map is set on the ground of the church by more than two million colored ores of various colors. The picture is centered on the holy land of Jerusalem. Although some of the patterns have been broken, the existing ones are only original. One third, but the map clearly shows the location of the Byzantine Palestine, Egypt, Nile, Jordan, Dead Sea, Jericho and Jerusalem, west to the Mediterranean, south to Memphis, north to Sidon, Dongda Amman, the oldest surviving Middle East map in the world.
