The dishes here are very typical from the region. The owner is in attendance and the service is excellent. I visited this restaurant twice.
I had my last birthday at La Moretta restaurant and what struck me, was the sheer history of the place, as soon as you walk in. Created in late 19th century, the place has been owned by same family ever since, in the same spot. How often does that happen? I was treated to a feast. At least seven courses of the freshest Italian seafood that anyone could dream of. The wines paired, were what you'd expect from a quality outfit. I spent at least 4 hours for lunch and did it the Italian way, I have never eaten fish like it. The array, the freshness and the sheer simplicity of the food was sublime. I returned a few months later, and had a completely different dish of homemade tagliatelle with a simple ragu - truly was the best I have ever tasted. It was a perfect cure. Amazing food heavenly people own the place, an Italian experience that you have to visit when in Ancona. Highly, highly recommended
I also knew this dish as cioppino but it's a seafood stew and it was fantastic! Specialty of the area. Cover charge of €3 per person which was twice what we were accustomed to after dining out many times in Italy, including Rome. A shame that restaurants prey on tourists this way. Anyway, no tip for them!!
We had diner here tonight. We walked in to this restaurant by accident, but is was very good. We took one of the menu's. Four starters to choise from and four main courses. It all starts with an apperitivo (drink and bread) and you also get a bottle of water and a quarter litre of wine. All for juist 25 euro a person. And the main thing about this all; it tastend very well and the service was good. Absolutely a restaurant to return to.
An aunt at the next table winked at us and said that we don't want to order this dish, that dish is great, very cute.
