Born in Malaga, Spain in 1881, settled in Paris in 1904. He is the most influential modernist painter. His painting methods and styles have changed throughout his life. In the early days, his painting style was like expressionist, but later he focused on primitive art, simplified images, and surrealism. For a period of time he switched to sketching. There are sculptures and pottery works in the later period.
Died in France in 1973 at the age of 92.
