Immense Cherry Blossom World

Such a different cherry blossom
Since the end of April and the beginning of May, Hirosaki City Park in Aomori Prefecture has become one of the best places in Japan where sakura blooms. Large picturesque trees provide the park with a place in the list of the most popular places for hanami — the traditional admiring of spring flowers.

How to get there
The park is located in the center of Hirosaki city. At Hirosaki Train Station, take the bus to Shiyakusho-mae Stop (15 minutes) or take a walk to the park (about half an hour).
Pink splendor
In spring, Hirosaki Park becomes a huge pink sea: more than 2,600 sakura trees bloom here, some older than 300 years. There are more than fifty varieties of cherries, including the most famous variety somei Yoshino, "weeping" sidare-dzakura and "double" yae-dzakura.
The Apple Secret
The local gardeners borrowed the technique of pruning branches from apple farmers from Aomori. That's why sakura produces almost twice as many flower buds in Hirosaki Park as in the wild.

The appeal of the night
In the evenings, the illumination turns on, and the beauty of Hirosaki Castle becomes even more expressive. Go for a late walk to take a look at the cherry blossoms from a different angle.

This is the Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya hotel located in Misawa, Aomori Prefecture. It is a 15 minutes walk from Misawa Station, alternatively, they also provide free shuttle services from Misawa Station and Misawa Airport. It is like a mini themed park that displays the rural culture of Aomori in northern Japan. Horse-drawn carriages ride down roads past traditional Japanese homes, while elements of local festivals and crafts add color and flair to the premises. The ONSEN with the garden view is so calming. There is a large park/garden at the back for you to stroll around and you can find a foot bath over there. Their rooms were large and comfortable. They even have apple auctions, where you can get apples at low prices and also get to experience real life auction scenarios. It was so funny! The stay was just perfect and full of experiences. They also provide free FRESH apple juice at certain timings.

Oirase Gorge Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Calming Greenery
This is the Oirase Keiryu located near Towada Lake, Aomori prefecture. There are buses that takes approximately three hours to reach from Aomori city. The stream flows along the floor of the Oirase Gorge, winding among the lush trees. It is Famous for the autumn view when the leaves turn red~ There are over a dozen waterfalls along the stream. It is said that the hiking trail is easy to follow. However, I did not try as we had driven there~ I loved how fresh the air was and it’s really lovely to be surrounded by nature 👍🏼

The hidden gem orirase 🇯🇵🍃
#timetotravel
The Oirase Gorge is one of the most beautiful river valleys in Japan, with vibrant and fast flowing water. The gorge extends over 14 km from the contrastively calm Lake Towada. The Oirase Gorge shows its beauty in different ways throughout the four seasons. However, the gorge is mostly known for its spectacular autumn foliage in the fall season.
The Oirase Gorge has an enchanting atmosphere with many waterfalls and thick woods. Starting in October, the leaves of the trees begin to change to vibrant red and yellow, adding to the already vivid green of the moss on the rocks, adding colors to a magnificent sight. The autumn colors peak every year around the end of October to the beginning of November. Visitors can hike around the gorge on the hiking trail. The gorge is a National Special Place of Scenic Beauty and National Natural Monument.

Trekking thru Oirase Stream to Lake Towada
Took the JR bus from Hachinohe station down to Oirase Keiryukan and started my walk from there. be aware of the weather bcos apparently it had been raining for 2 full weeks the week before I went!
The walk is very scenic and there will be opportunities to go down to the river and have a feel of the water. At other parts of the stream, you will just be in awe of the rapids flowing through.
The walk was relatively easy as there is a significant portion along the road and others which are trails. A solid 8/10 for this location 👍🏼

The Aojinyu Stream in Aomori Prefecture, Hokkaido, Japan, is known as the first place in the Northeast. The clear and beautiful stream flows slowly and is surrounded by virgin forests. Walking along the creek, walking under the vast trees, breathing fresh and humid air, all kinds of large and small waterfalls can be seen everywhere, as well as the mossy and vine-wrapped rocks floating on the water.
When I went, it was summer. In fact, the autumn of the Oyster River is a resort for red leaves. Imagine how beautiful it will be, and there will be a chance to come again in the fall.
Arrival: In front of JR Aomori Station or JR Shin-Aomori Station, take the JR bus "Lake" No. 2, and get off at about 120 minutes.

The art of Nebuta
#helloautumn
#localescapes
The Nebuta Warasse museum attempts to capture the spirit of the festival and gives visitors a taste of its lively atmosphere, history and traditions. Upon entering the second floor entrance to the exhibitions, visitors are presented with the sights of the festival along a red corridor lined with images from the Nebuta Matsuri's 300 year history. Lanterns in the shape of red goldfish, another symbol of the festival, hang along the corridor where the recorded sounds of taiko drums, flutes, and voices play.

The Warasse Nebuta House is close to the station. The second floor is an exhibition hall, and regional specialties are sold on the first floor. The large lantern picture used for the opening of Nebuta Festival is based on fairy tales. Some parts look like hands or ocean spray, giving visitors an insight into the components. It's very interesting. Regular activities are also held here, but if you miss them, never mind - the exhibit is great in its own right!

Nebuta museum 🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
The Nebuta Museum in Aomori, Japan, offers a captivating journey into the heart of one of Japan's most vibrant festivals. 🎉 Located in the heart of the city, the museum provides an immersive experience that showcases the history, artistry, and cultural significance of the Nebuta Festival.
The entrance fee is typically around ¥600, which is well worth it for the rich cultural experience the museum offers. As a tourist, I found the museum's exhibits to be both informative and visually stunning. From intricate Nebuta floats to colorful lanterns and lively performances, the museum brings the festival to life in vivid detail.
One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to participate in a Nebuta workshop, where I had the chance to create my own mini Nebuta lantern. It was a fun and hands-on way to learn about the festival's artistry and craftsmanship.
After exploring the museum, I took a stroll through Aomori's bustling Nebuta Warasse complex, where I enjoyed shopping for traditional crafts and sampling local delicacies. Nearby attractions such as the Aomori Bay Bridge and the Asamushi Aquarium are also worth visiting while in the area.
Overall, the Nebuta Museum offers a captivating glimpse into the vibrant world of the Nebuta Festival and is a must-visit for anyone interested in Japanese culture and tradition. #NebutaMuseum #Aomori #JapaneseCulture #TravelJapan 🎨🏮🇯🇵

Exploring nebuta museum 👹👺
#timetotravel
The concept for Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse was part of the "Basic Plan for the Rejuvenation of the Aomori Station area" in 2004. The plan was devised to keep tourism and businesses present in central Aomori after the 2010 opening of the Tōhoku Shinkansen and Shin-Aomori Station that would supplant the Tōhoku Main Line and Aomori Station, leading to a potential shift in commuter traffic away from the city's central district.[1] The plan called for a public cultural facility near Aomori Station that focused on the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri summer festival that takes place annually on the waterfront of Aomori Bay.

Ashino Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Ashino, Ashino, Ashino!
#cherryblossom2024
One of the best places for hanami
Every Japanese has a favorite place to admire sakura. For many, this is Ashino Park, truly fabulous during the flowering festival. In these parts, it usually falls on the Golden Week — the weekend in early May.
How to get there
Ashino Park is located in the city of Gosegawara, on the Tsugaru Peninsula, in the northwest of Aomori Prefecture, about the same distance from the city of Aomori (from the west) and Hirosaki (from the north). It is easier to get to the park from Hirosaki.
At Hirosaki Station, take the train on the Ou line to the station
Goshogawara (just over 30 minutes), transfer to Tsugaru-Goshogawara Station on the Tsugaru Railroad line. Get off at Ashinokoen Station in 20 minutes. The park is still a five—minute walk away.
It is interesting
There is a monument to the writer Dazai Osama in the park

Golden Week in Pink
Every year from April 29 to May 5, Golden Week is celebrated in Japan, which includes Emperor Showa's birthday (April 29), Constitution Day (May 3) and Children's Day (May 5). Most companies give employees a whole week off.
By this time, sakura has already managed to fly all over Japan, but in the cool northern prefecture of Aomori, the Golden Week usually has the peak of flowering. If you haven't been able to see it before, this is a great opportunity to fill in the gap.
What's in the park?
Ashino Park and Ashinoko Lake are part of the huge Tisogun Nature Park. There are more than 2,300 sakura trees and thousands of pines growing here.
In addition to the natural one, there is also a literary monument here — one of the greatest novelists of Japan of the twentieth century named Dazai Osama.
Do not miss the opportunity to admire the romantic scenery — from the suspension bridge or during a boat trip on the lake.
