Centennial Olympic Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
On the way to Atlanta, we stopped by the Georgia Guidestones. There are many fun things to do in the nearby Centennial Olympic Park and if interested, you can try to find all the inscriptions on the monument (we didn't get them all). You can also visit the nearby World of Coca-Cola, aquarium, and the CNN building.

Stroll through iconic downtown
Atlanta is a city that houses many iconic brands, such as CNN and Coca cola. Additionally, it's downtown core is a nice place to stroll through especially if you have several hours to spare while on layover at Hartsfield. The subway system is efficient and not overly expensive making the trip to the city quite enjoyable.
Head over to the the different headquarters to get a glimpse at the behind the scenes of the companies. There's also an Olympic park which commemorates the 1996 summer Olympics. It's a great open space and a place to relax. Being the capital of the state of Georgia, you can also have a look at the Georgia State House, a beautiful golden building.
Remember to get some southern food before leaving; fried chicken and sweet tea is must!

Flying during the FAA Shutdown!
On January 11th, 2023, the FAA called for a nationwide ground stop due to technical issues within their system. What was it really like flying during this ground stop? For me, it was really nerve wracking! Right as we were taking off, I was watching the news and saw a report that the FAA was stopping all planes! I was very confused at first, as we were taxiing to take off, and then proceeded to take off! I quickly went to twitter to check if it was true, and sure enough it was! We were originally headed to Atlanta to catch a flight to Tokyo (next post!) but we were rerouted to Greensboro and had to sit there for almost an hour and a half! Eventually the stop was lifted, but at that point I was bound to miss my connecting flight in Atlanta to Tokyo! But… thankfully I made it! Online tracking didn’t show my flight to Tokyo as delayed, so I had assumed that I missed it, but when I got to the gate everyone was still waiting there and boarding hadn’t even started 😅 Hopefully nothing like this happens again because it sure wasn’t fun!#FAA #groundstop #atlanta #tokyo #delta

『Atlanta|Georgia』Take down Atlanta in one weekend.
One of the most spectacular aquariums in the United States, the Georgia Aquarium is home to thousands of animals, including a whale shark! Apart from Asia, the Georgia Aquarium is the only place in the world where you can see whale sharks. If you are traveling with children or want to see some truly amazing animals, this is the place to be.
In this most beautiful aquarium in the whole of America, there are all kinds of stunning sights!
📍The Georgia Aquarium, before the appearance of Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai, China, was the world's largest aquarium. The purpose of building this aquarium is very clear: entertainment, education, and scientific research.
👉🏻Harvest:
1. Here we call on people to pay attention to ocean pollution and animal protection, which can trigger children's thinking about marine ecology. (Can have in-depth discussions with children)
2. The wonders and beauty of the underwater world can inspire creative ideas (I saw someone sketching in the "underwater tunnel" on site).
3, can arouse children's interest in veterinary medicine.

Georgia Aquarium Shark Cage Dive
Georgia Aquarium, currently the largest in the United States and second largest in the world. And the Shark Exhibit is their star attraction.
Missed the opportunity to cage dive with sharks in Hawaii, so when I discovered this project, I was curious and signed up. This time, I will reveal this project to everyone.
Arrive at the second floor counter of the aquarium half an hour early for check-in. Each team can have a maximum of 8 people, and there are two teams per day. Remember to make a reservation in advance.
The staff took us to a small room to educate us on shark and diving safety. During the session, they will give out small gifts, including a T-shirt and stickers.
Go to the changing room and shower room to change into your wetsuit. Each person has their own locker, so there's no need to worry about where to store your belongings.
Arriving at the backstage of the aquarium, you can faintly see sharks swimming by and occasionally jumping out of the water. In addition, there is a small pool next to it where small sharks and rays are kept.
After you are ready, the staff will help you put on a weight belt (very heavy! to prevent you from floating in the cage) and a helmet with earphones, so you can communicate underwater, very high-tech!
When the oxygen tube is first inserted, breathing may feel a bit suffocating, but it gets better with adaptation. The diving mask is full-face style, so it is easier to use than the breathing apparatus we usually use.
When you go into the water, you will feel the water slowly rising from your feet, submerging your legs and chest. When the water level reaches your neck, bury your face in the water to test the helmet function. If everything is normal, you can continue.
The cage will dive into the shark and fish schools, experiencing them passing by you, while you also have the perspective of the fish in the aquarium, able to see the visitors who come to visit you. In short, compared to us visiting the sharks, this is more like the sharks visiting us...
Underwater cameras are available to capture footage from various angles, and staff members can also provide you with a GoPro for selfies. After the experience, they quickly edit a beautiful video and send it to your email, so there's no need to worry about taking photos.
After the end, the cage will slowly rise. Take off your equipment and you can go back to the changing room for a hot shower. They provide towels, shampoo and shower gel, so there is no need to bring swimwear or toiletries. Those who are particular can bring some facial oil, and people with long hair can bring a comb.
