What travelers say:

Caprock Canyons State Park is located south of Palo Duro. The park straddles the Caprock cliffs with a spectacular 305-meter red sandstone cliff. The park is home to a herd of bison in Texas, where you can often see herds of bison, and many bats live here. In addition to the animals, there are more than 90 miles of trails in the park for visitors to hike through the park and towering red cliffs, with stunning views of the famous Texas Llano Estacado landscape. Or while the weather is still hot, swim or fish on the 120-acre Lake Theo.

    Beautiful Red Rock Canyons

The red rock canyons were beautiful! Definitely off the beaten path! But definitely worth the drive. Home of the Texas State Bison herd, although we didn't see any bison the day we were there. We are...

I will come back again and again

The bison walking through the campsites and sleeping close enough for us to hear them next to us at night was wonderful. I've been 3x, summer each time. Luckily, it cooled off at night enough for us t...

    Beautiful scenery and bison

What a beautiful place! We drove around to see the canyon, hoping to catch a glimpse of the state bison herd. We saw a couple of roadrunners and a prairie dog on our drive. We finally saw the herd ...

    Beautiful scenery

Friday afternoon. Uncrowded and great for an unhurried drive. With the canyon floor at 115 degrees, we decided not to hike. We enjoyed driving through the buffalo herd. Stunning scenery.
