Parthenon

Athens is a city with many cultural relics and historical sites, especially temples. We visited many temples in Greece and also visited famous temples on the islands when we took a boat tour of the Aegean Sea. Greece is still a very culturally rich tourist destination.

The Parthenon is located at the center of the Acropolis. It is the largest temple in ancient Greece and one of the most famous temples in Athens. It is a temple built for Athena, the patron saint of the Athenian city-state. It stands at the highest point of the Acropolis. The temple was built 2,000 years ago and is an outstanding representative of architecture and sculpture in the heyday of Greece. It is known as the "Greek National Treasure" and is also one of the world-famous world heritage sites.

The guided tour I bought a day in advance was very good. We set off at 5pm, just as the sun was about to set. It was not hot at all, and there were not many tourists. The tour guide was a historian, and the content he introduced along the way was very detailed. Including the story behind the construction of the Acropolis Museum, the trees on the Acropolis Hill, the Acropolis has experienced several disasters and historical changes, Athens' efforts in the field of international recovery of cultural relics (to the British Museum), the story of Dionysus, the god of medicine, the goddess of war, the goddess of wisdom, and the three main gods Poseidon. Another surprise is that there are so many cats in the Acropolis! They are the only guests who can enter and exit the temple at will. The staff will regularly put cat food for the stray cats.

The Parthenon in Athens is an ancient temple on the Greek Acropolis. Built in 447 BC, the Parthenon and other Pericklin monuments in the Acropolis are fundamentally regarded as a celebration of the defeat of the Greeks by Persian invaders and a thankful victory for the gods.

The entrance to the Acropolis, through the Propylaea, looks to the right to the famous Parthenon. The temple is built in white marble, 31 meters wide, 70 meters deep and 10 meters high, and the roof and walls are decorated with exquisite sculptures with Greek mythology. It is said that in ancient times, the temple was dedicated to the statue of the patron goddess Athena, all made of gold and ivory, but now only imagine the statue's exquisiteness. In addition to its magnificent appearance, the other great thing about the temple is its golden ratio, which is a model of classical architecture. Unfortunately, such a great building has been broken up after the history, many fine carvings have been stolen, and the shrine was damaged when Turkey occupied Greece.
