One of Many Plague Columns Across Slovakia
Slovakians appear to love erecting Marian pillars or columns dedicated to those who died during the plague since our tour group of 22 were shown one in almost every town we visited. Some are elaborate...
Unique monument of town
Historical pillar placed on the upper part of square illustrates view to center of town. Very popular for meetings of people or taking of pictures.
Fine representation
Another fine representation of a plague pillar erected by those who survived. Have seen many on our trip across Slovakia, but this one is located in an especially nice town square.
Nice
Like Levoča this down seems deeply religious and steeped in history. This statue has a significant impact when you consider all that it has been through.
Banská Bystrica History
The Pillar (or stlp) is a piece of Slovak History that you can read about on pretty much every Slovak site. It's one of the main monuments in the square and is not easily missed.
