Stay at a hotel in Barcelona's Old Town and experience the romance of Saint George's Day
The most romantic day of the year in Catalonia is undoubtedly April 23rd, Saint George's Day. On this day, roses fill the entire city of Barcelona, temporary book stalls line the streets, and the air is filled with the fragrance of flowers and ink. Even Casa Batlló is covered in roses, creating an atmosphere of ultimate romance.
This festival originates from a beautiful medieval legend: the knight Jordi bravely slayed a dragon to save a princess, and the dragon's blood turned into a delicate rose. Since then, people began giving roses on this day to express love. By the 20th century, the festival became associated with books as well—men give roses, and women return the gesture with a book, gradually evolving into a beautiful day celebrating love, roses, and books.

Other visitors' reviews of Casa Batlló
Show More ReviewsCasa Batlló, a must-see in Spain, was a must-visit attraction. I promptly bought the highest-tier ticket and queued at the entrance according to my reservation time. First, I went into the basement, picked up an iPad, and then followed the guides, listening to explanations and taking photos along the way. It took a full two hours to explore (though you could finish in an hour if you go quickly). The highest-tier ticket grants access to all rooms on all floors (areas inaccessible with the regular ticket). The souvenir shop at the exit (on the first floor) is open to all without a ticket.
