The Roman Baths

One of the nicest historical sights I have visited. Was not completely aware that I would get to see a Roman architecture in Britain. I must say, it was a day well spent!

The night I arrived in Bath the day before, I finally had a good sleep. The jet lag effect was basically zero, and I woke up feeling refreshed. I bought the next day's early show ticket on Ctrip one day in advance, ¥280/ticket. After breakfast, I walked a few minutes to the famous attraction in the city center - the Roman Baths. There were not many people in the morning. I received the headset and put it on, and slowly visited it following the introduction of the headset. The bathhouse is divided into two floors. The bathing pool on the lower floor is connected to the underground hot spring. The pool is green and clear, and warm spring water still gushes out. It is hard to imagine that it has remained in this state for more than 10,000 years.

Located in the centre of the city of Bath, close to the Bath Monastery, the Roman Bath is the most famous tourist attraction in Bath, and also a museum introducing and displaying the ancient Roman Bath. The bathing ground was built in the first century of the park, when Britain was still in the territory of ancient Rome. A Roman Prince exiled here because of leprosy was cured unexpectedly by the hot springs. He later became king of Rome. He never forgot the hot springs here. He sent people to study and found that the hot springs rich in sulphur and other minerals were effective for skin and nervous system diseases. So he built a bathing ground here. And the temple. Later it was obliterated by sinking, and it was not until the 18th century that it was discovered and rediscovered. Its reception hall is magnificent, providing free Chinese guides, according to the number of each scenic spot to choose the appropriate number to listen to the introduction, very convenient and easy to use, the Holy Spring is still flowing out of natural hot spring water, from the bathroom terrace to enjoy the unique features of the Bass Monastery and Plaza.

So far, one of my personal favorite attractions. In fact, it's a big bathtub. I didn't have much hope. I went to see it, but I found that the museum was very careful. Tickets include a commentator, which is a highlight. There are different languages such as Chinese, English, German and so on. I listened to Chinese and English, and found that their contents are actually different. The Chinese version is more inclined to explain, while the English version has more storytelling and interaction, which is to vividly tell the history and legends and architecture of ancient Rome. The exhibits are also interesting. Many exhibits are equipped with video explanations, which make it easy for people to have a sense of inspiration and tell people and things in the distance as happened yesterday.

I came in after 17 o'clock. It's still very bright. It doesn't affect the visit. The most important thing is that the tickets are discounted. From time to time, the visit was shocked by the luxurious life and architecture of the ancient Romans. Standing on the second floor, you can also enjoy the Bass Monastery at close range.

The tour starts from the museum upstairs, where silverware, paintings, various crafts, and various artifacts unearthed from this ancient Roman bath are displayed. Then visit the core here, a rectangular hot spring bath like a small swimming pool. The large bath is 1.6 meters deep, which is just right for bathing. There are steps in all directions of the bath for guests to go up and down. There are empty spaces around the large bath for benches and small dining tables, where guests can eat and rest for a while.
