Show More ReviewsThe Jicheng Memorial Column is a commemorative landmark of the founding of Beijing. It stands in the Binhe Park on the west bank of the moat north of Guang'anmen. The inscription on the front of the memorial column reads: "Beijing's urban area began in this place. At that time, it was named Ji during the Zhou Dynasty." In front of the column stands a stone tablet with "The Founding of Beijing" written by historical geographer Hou Renzhi, and behind the column is a sculpture of Beijing's topography. The circular base of the sculpture is engraved with "Beijing Bay" written by Hou Renzhi.
