Introduction: I want to start by sharing my personal feeling~ This is my second time visiting the National Museum of China. How should I put it? It feels like the home of a wealthy landlord, with many treasures but little care given to the way they are displayed or the logic of the exhibition. So, after seeing the entire exhibition, it feels like being forced to eat a big stew made of expensive ingredients like shark fin, abalone, and sea cucumber. If this is your first time visiting the National Museum of China and you have a whole day to see the exhibitions, then first take a look at this first chapter where I will write about: booking tickets for the National Museum, routes to the museum, and some tips for visiting exhibitions. Booking: The National Museum is free but not without tickets. Visitors who want to visit need to book tickets 7 days in advance through the official WeChat account: National Museum of China. Tickets are released at 5 AM, so it’s best to set an alarm and enter your information early to grab tickets for the first session from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, giving you plenty of time to explore. Transportation: Take Metro Line 1 and get off at Tiananmen East. If you have booked a guided tour, it’s best to allow an extra half hour for security checks outside of travel time. Exit C at Tiananmen East is the closest, but it was closed when I went in the morning, so I exited from Exit D. It takes about half an hour from getting off the train to entering the museum. Tips for visiting exhibitions: To truly understand the artifacts at the National Museum, it’s best to get a guide to know not just what they are but also their background. The current National Museum was rebuilt in 2003 based on the North Area, which was the Museum of the Chinese Revolution built in 1958, and the South Area, which was the Museum of Chinese History. It is the largest single building museum in the world. So, visiting the National Museum requires a good pair of walking shoes, or else your feet will really suffer—I feel like my arches have flattened out~ Also, the ancient China section of the museum is really hot, so if you come in winter, please store your coats, store your coats, store your coats (important enough to say three times). The storage lockers charge 1 yuan per hour, with a maximum fee of 5 yuan. The trip was about three kilometers and took 20 minutes.

Most of the Buddhist statues in this exhibition were created in China and are deeply influenced by Buddhist art, while some were brought by eminent monks from ancient India. Each exhibit has its unique characteristics: the clay Buddhist statues unearthed in Xinjiang are solemn and handsome, embodying Central Asian style; the statues from the Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi, the Bodhisattva statues from the Tianlongshan Grottoes, and the Heavenly King statues from the Wanfo Temple in Sichuan vividly reflect the sculptural styles and artistic preferences of different eras and regions. On our way back we took off at the Olympic park. I was worth to stroll around for awhile till they lit the lights up, it is so beautiful. Then we took metro to famous Wanfujing street. 🥘Food: there are a lot of nice restaurants around Wanfujing street. 🏠Accommodation 1.Yiting Zhenshe Hotel (Beijing Qianmen Pedestrian Street) There are still many interesting places I would like to go and see but as I have only got limited holidays I can only spend 4 days and 3 nights at Beijing.
