I last visited 30 years ago when I was in elementary school. This time, I brought my child who is about to start school. The interior decoration has changed dramatically. The small aquarium on the basement floor is very good, with live fish that my child likes very much. The specimens upstairs are also exquisite and lifelike, and the exhibits are displayed in a very detailed manner. It's very good. As long as it's not a weekend or holiday, it's easy to book tickets on weekdays. You don't have to wait for the ticket office to open to grab tickets. There are fewer people in the afternoon, and you can basically visit all the exhibition halls in about 2 hours.

The exhibitions are so diverse and engaging, and I saw a lot of families with kids who were having a blast. It's definitely a perfect spot for an indoor activity. 🗺️ Getting There & My Tips It was super easy to get to—I took Line 8 to Tianqiao Station and it was just a short walk from Exit B. The museum is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Mondays. I made sure to book my free ticket online 1-3 days in advance, which I'd highly recommend you do on their official WeChat account, as tickets are released every day at 11:00 AM. I went after 2:00 PM, and the crowds were much more manageable, which was a great choice. One thing I noticed is that they mostly use stairs, and the one elevator was out of order, so it might be tough with a stroller. 🎨 Exhibits & Highlights I started on Floor B1, which was a huge hit! I saw a small aquarium with live fish, a thrilling Dinosaur Park with over 20 giant dinosaurs, and a fascinating exhibit on human development. Floor 1 was all about animals—I saw incredibly realistic specimens of tigers, polar bears, and a huge collection of birds and insects. On Floor 2, I learned about the "Mysteries of Africa" and the "Plant World," which was really interesting. There's also a 4D theater on the 3rd floor, but I didn't get to see a movie. Tickets are ¥20 per person and are bought on the first floor. I noticed that they don't have a restaurant, so I'd recommend eating before you go or bringing your own snacks. During my travels in Italy, I discovered Da Vinci's talents in technology and science. This exhibition at the National Natural History Museum focuses on the details with remarkable depth. The exhibition space is compact, progressing from nature to art to machinery, even comparing similar mechanical inventions from China and abroad. After visiting the special exhibition, you can explore other sections of the Natural History Museum. The public guided tours are highly recommended! Since there are many children during summer break, visiting on weekdays is advised.
