Zhengyang Bookstore: Hidden in the oldest Brick Tower Hutong, this small courtyard houses a Yuan Dynasty ancient pagoda and is filled with books and cultural products about old Beijing. Kids can learn a lot here. Xishiku Church: A Gothic-style church blending Chinese and Western elements. The stained glass is breathtaking in the sunlight. For our family trip to Beijing, we discovered a true hidden gem! Just a 5-minute walk from the Forbidden City's Donghua Gate, nestled in the alleys of Dongsi, we stayed at the 'Wangfu Courtyard' hotel... and wow, the whole family was absolutely enchanted💖 As soon as we opened the red gate, we were greeted by a stunning view of Jingshan Park's Wanchun Pavilion! The hotel, a 300-year-old siheyuan (traditional courtyard residence), was remodeled over two years, preserving its ancient carved pillars and a 100-year-old jujube tree🏮 Inside the rooms, we found heated floors, a smart toilet, and even a Dyson hairdryer! We enjoyed Ming and Qing dynasty-style tea and snacks in the elegant study and tea room, and the staff, dressed in traditional attire, provided exceptional service✨ We stayed in the 'Fujin Suite,' which featured imperial-style furniture, silk screens, and a luxurious wooden bed. Our son exclaimed, "Mom, we're like princes from the old days!"😂 In the evening, we dined at the hotel's theater restaurant, watching a face-changing opera performance while savoring authentic Guanfu cuisine.
