There are nearly 70 places in the underground city that have been identified as rich in groundwater, and a total of 2,300 ventilation holes have been designed. The narrowest place in the city can accommodate 3 people walking side by side, and the widest place can accommodate 5 people. Some places can even open to traffic. In addition, there is an energy-saving lamp every 5 meters at the top. Each passageway interchange has a "storage room" of about ten square meters, with entertainment and necessary living facilities such as cinemas, barber rooms, and underground passages that extend directly to the administrative center, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the railway station. At present, the underground city is only open to visit at the entrance of the underground city at the intersection of Wujo and Xixinglong Street. The underground entrance exhibition hall is open every Tuesday to Friday 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00. If you take the subway, get off at Qiaowan Station on Line 7 and go north to find a small alley going north to reach Xixinglong Street, and then find No. 110 Xixinglong Street. That area is a narrow alley. Basically, it is an old Beijing hutong of "original ecology", and it is quite interesting to walk without overdevelopment. Xixinglong Street is an old street with a strong historical and cultural meaning. It has many old-fashioned buildings, so the small facade of the entrance of the underground city is not eye-catching. Although there are many tourists coming and going on the street, but notice that there are fewer people here and coming in. So it was a little deserted. There are many old photos arranged on the walls on both sides of the exhibition hall, and the construction background, construction process and transformation of the underground city are introduced in the form of graphics and text. There is a panoramic sand pane of the underground city on the south side. In addition, an eight-minute introduction film can be played through the projection. The stairs that go down are closed by the glass floor and cannot be entered, but you can see the ladder and the door below.
