Yonghe Temple was once the residence of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, Emperor Yongzheng was the prince and had not yet stepped up to the throne. It is also the place where Emperor Qianlong, the son of Emperor Yongzheng, was born. Nowadays, Lama Temple is a well-known monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in Beijing. The incense often burns brightly. There are also many precious cultural relics in Lama Temple, such as the 500 Arhat Mountain carved out of sandalwood, the giant Buddha niche carved out of silkwood, and the 18-meter-high Buddha carved out of white sandalwood.

As the history says Buddhism came from India, as so the Buddha too. The very first Buddha who got enlightened is a king who got tired 😴 of war and couldn’t live with that loss of lives anymore. And so, he gave up on earthly attachments to attain the monk 🍀 . Here located in Dongcheng district is the Lama temple. It is quite around the corner from the famous Wangfujing street. This temple is also called locally as Yonghe temple, and once it was a royal residence. Over the time, people started to come to pray 🙏 and the Buddhism followed here is the yellow hat 🤠 . You can see different sections of temple starting from the entrance, with some amazing architectures and statues of ancient beliefs. Also they have a magnificient statue of Maitreya, that will make you totally 💯 in love with Buddhism. Check this must visit place in Beijing, folks !! #urbanexplorer #yonghemiao
The Yonghe Temple, also known as Lamas Temple, is a Tibetan Buddhist temple and monastery in downtown Beijing. If you have a few hours to spare in Beijing, take a didi to the temple. Like entering an ancient bubble inside the busy city, transporting you from Beijing to Tibet in a few steps.
From the smell of incense, gorgeous artwork in every structure, and peaceful ambience, you will feel in close connection with your soul. The guardian lion statue in the entrance will lead your way in. Take your time to admire the different architectural designs and artwork. You might see some similarities between the buildings’ paint designs in the temple and those ones in Forbidden City.
This temple dates from Qing dynasty, with a very reach history that includes the residence and tomb of Yongzheng emperor to the site of armed revolt against Chinese nationalist government in 1929. After the civil war, remained closed for 32 year til is reopened in 1981. Therefore, if you are fan of the art, ancient architecture, history or just want to visit a Tibetan monastery, this is the perfect spot for you.

In the history of the Qing Dynasty, the Lama Temple spanned the three dynasties of Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong. After three periods of the palace, the palace and the temple, the architectural history lasted for more than 300 years. It is currently the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing and also Beijing. The most noble temple in the city and even in the country is the only temple known as the "Palace".
The high brick wall of the Lama Temple towers over the top of the head and raises its head. It really only sees the "square of the square". The top color scheme is here, the golden palace roof, the peacock blue and the lush green, gold and yellow porch painting columns, show the royal majesty and the outstanding wisdom of ancient craftsmen in front of the world.
