It seems that they are quietly telling the past glory. Going to the south gate, under the afterglow, this trip to the intertwined history and nature is full of shock and thought.
The Yuanmingyuan is actually a ruins park established on the site of the Yuanmingyuan in the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty consists of the Yuanmingyuan, Changchun Garden and Hunchun Garden. The building area is magnificent and the style reflects the combination of Chinese and Western. It is known as the "Garden of the Wanyuan". During the Opium War, it was burned by the British and French coalition forces. In 1988, the second batch of national insurance was awarded, and the site park was established here. In addition to the large area of water for tourists to relax in the park, the scenic spots appearing in history textbooks and various scenic spots are mainly concentrated in the Xiyanglou scenic spot in the northeast of the park. There is a museum with historical instructions and cultural relics exhibitions, and the landscape before the destruction can be restored through pictures. Reshape the memory of future generations. This park is large in size, quiet in the environment, and there are monuments everywhere. In terms of visiting ancient times, the Yuanmingyuan is also a good place to go.
The Summer Palace is well worth a visit, especially for visitors interested in history, culture and garden art. Beautiful but crazy busy! My sister and I went during the Labour Day holiday. as expected, all tourist attractions were overcrowded but manageable, however this particular place was too crowded. The paths are quite narrow so we felt it more. Nevertheless this place is supper worth it. Lots of water and greenery around, with some old ruins.
Was lucky enough to go on a sunny day that was not crowded! Mid-morning is best, and it’s good to spend at least 2 hours here. Easy by ride share or subway/walk. There’s a lot of history, and the site is massive in terms of ruins and unkept landscape. Perfect April-September.
