Yulan Hall is located on the Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace. It is close to the East Palace Gate. It was first built in the 15th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1750). It was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1875-1908). It was the bedroom of Emperor Guangxu. This is a three-courtyard building. The main hall, Yulan Hall, faces south. Yulan Hall was originally the place where the emperor governed, worked and summoned ministers. In addition to the main gate, there are exits on the east, south and north sides, leading to Renshou Hall in the east, Kunming Lake in the west and the Queen's bedroom in the north. Due to the failure of the Wuxu coup, this place eventually became the place where Emperor Guangxu was imprisoned, which added some tragic color to this place.
