Chongqing one-day round trip to Wulong Tiankeng and Difeng, this is the smoothest time planning
Wulong is Chongqing's most popular distant suburban tourist destination, mainly including Tian Sheng San Qiao (Tiankeng), Longshui Gorge Difeng, and Fairy Mountain. Many friends travel back and forth on weekends, how much time is needed? Is one day enough for a round trip? This guide calculates it in detail.
Chongqing ↔ Wulong Fairy Mountain Visitor Center
🚍 Bus: The direct tourist bus from Jiefangbei to the visitor center, about 70 yuan one way, departs at 7:30 and arrives at the visitor center around 10:30, and returns at 17:30.
🔹 There are also direct tourist buses at stations such as the Four Kilometers Tourist Distribution Center, or you can take a passenger bus to Wulong District and transfer by yourself. Ordinary passenger buses are cheaper but require a transfer in Wulong District.
🚆 Train: From Chongqing North Station to Wulong Station, about 2 hours, 22 yuan, seamless transfer to the visitor center bus after exiting Wulong Station, 30 minutes, 10 yuan.
🛩️ Plane: Chongqing Airport to Fairy Mountain Airport, 1 hour, go in the afternoon, return at midnight, the timing is not very good, and you still need to transfer from the airport to the visitor center.
✅ Tiankeng + Difeng one-day round trip
10:30 Arrive at the visitor center, have lunch.
11:30 Take the shuttle bus to Tiankeng, tour duration 1.5-2h.
13:30 Exit Tiankeng and take the shuttle bus to Difeng, enter Difeng at 14:00, tour duration 1-1.5h, exit the scenic area at 15:30.
16:00 Take the shuttle bus back to the visitor center, have another meal, and easily catch the 17:30 return bus.
If you play late, you can also take the 19:00 train or the 21:00 plane.
Tiankeng and Difeng are each a line, and they are all flat and downhill roads, so the tour is very fast. The above time is already at a relatively slow speed.
According to the above schedule, even if you walk down Tiankeng or queue for the elevator within 1 hour, the time is still quite sufficient. However, summer is the peak season, and 11 o'clock is the peak time for crowds, so it is possible that the elevator queue will be longer, which requires flexible response.
Try not to be too late when exiting Tiankeng, and try not to give up Difeng (ticket inspection stops at 16:30), because Difeng and Tiankeng have different styles. It is enough to visit these twin scenic spots in one day. If you miss the 17:30 return bus, take the train. The efficiency of the shuttle bus at the train station is very high, you just need to get the train ticket.
As long as you can return to the visitor center by 18:00 at the latest, you can definitely catch the last train back to Chongqing at 19:00 (buy the ticket in advance). Or you can take the bus to Fairy Mountain Airport and take the 22:00 plane.
✅ Two-day round trip
After finishing the Tiankeng and Difeng tour on the first day, stay in Fairy Mountain Town, and on the second day, take the bus from the visitor center to Fairy Mountain Forest Park for a tour, then return to Chongqing, with plenty of time.
If you go to Furong Cave on the second day, because it is not in the same direction, you need to return to Wulong City first. One day is also very sufficient to tour Furong Cave. In addition, Wulong also has attractions such as Impression Wulong, Tiankeng Village, and Baima Mountain.
💡 Actually, for a two-day tour, it is recommended to visit Fairy Mountain on the first day and enter Tiankeng and Difeng earlier on the second day, so there are fewer people and no queue for the elevator, making it more relaxed.
❤️ Summary: For a weekend round trip, you can take either the direct tourist bus or the train, both take about the same time on the road, and the train is cheaper. The return time of the direct bus is relatively early, but generally, you can catch it. If you can't catch it, you can take the train (be sure to buy the train ticket in advance). Driving by yourself is also possible but more tiring.
🔹 Personally, I recommend taking at least one train ride, as you can see the beautiful scenery of the Wujiang River and the Yangtze River on the train.
Fairy Mountain in winter has a unique charm, covered in silver and white, but summer brings out the true beauty of the grasslands. The Three Natural Bridges scenic area boasts unique karst landforms, showcasing the wonders of nature and leaving a lasting impression. Our driver, Mr. Liu Gang, was an excellent driver who provided insightful commentary on local customs and traditions, as well as safety tips for visiting the scenic areas, offering meticulous and attentive service. Overall, this trip to Wulong was an unforgettable experience.
The gorge was great while the fairy mountain was too cold and nothing very special to see unlike the beautiful gorge second station. Maybe the fairy mountain is better in summer. Also a lot of pressure to buy things around for things i find unneeded. If you have a lotnof spare money then they are fine. Also the time for walking they give you is not properly calculated and you have to run a little to make it in time. But overall the price was great for the experience. The Gorge is a miracle on earth!
The scenery is something we city dwellers rarely see, so it was quite nice for us. However, the transportation was really exhausting, with back-and-forth trips and shuttle buses. It's not a place I'd visit twice; it's not easy to go, and the tickets are quite expensive. The fissures and sinkholes each have separate entrance fees, and the location is so remote.
Wulong's Three Natural Bridges is a famous karst landform. You can take the elevator or walk directly to the scenic area. Walking along the canyon trail in the scenic area, you can fully appreciate the beautiful scenery of the karst and the magnificence of the Three Natural Bridges. The Three Natural Bridges are distributed in the canyon. They are the uncanny work of nature and have the reputation of "a natural wonder of the world". The air here is fresh, the mountains and trees are green, and the scenery is unique. It is an important tourist attraction in Chongqing and also the location for the filming of the movie "Curse of the Golden Flower". It is worth a visit. Friends who are interested, come and visit!
Worth a visit. Wuling Karst Scenic Area is famous for its unique landforms, including the quartz sandstone peaks of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie, the cliffs and cracks of the Great Rift Valley of Wuling Mountain in Fuling, and the deep canyons and cave wonders of the Tongren Grand Canyon. It has rare natural wonders in the world, such as the Qingtianxia crack (less than 1 meter at the narrowest point), the cave palace of Huanglong Cave, and the color-changing rock formations of Guzhang Red Stone Forest. Scenic Area [Cost-effectiveness] [Fun] [Scenery] The area is rich in ecology and has a high forest coverage rate. It is a summer resort. At the same time, it integrates the cultures of ethnic minorities such as the Tujia and Miao people, forming a tourist destination that emphasizes both nature and humanity.
Fairy Mountain is located on the north bank of Wujiang River in Wulong District, Chongqing. It belongs to Wuling Mountain Range and is a national AAAAA-level scenic spot, a national forest park, and one of the top ten tourist attractions in Chongqing. It is 2,033 meters above sea level, with 330,000 mu of forest and 100,000 mu of natural grassland. The average temperature in summer is 24℃. It is known as the "First Pastoral Plain in the South" and the "Switzerland of the East". Its unique forest and grassland scenery is unique in Chongqing and is an excellent place for summer vacation.
I took my parents on a one-day trip to Wulong on the weekend. Our first attraction was the Wujiang Gallery. We took some photos of the Wujiang River (Fuling section) on the bridge. The Wujiang River rushes from west to east, which is pleasing to the eye. The river flows gently and the green shades are shaded. The river and the mountains complement each other, like a landscape painting. Therefore, the Wujiang River is known as "a thousand miles of Wujiang River, a hundred miles of gallery". The second attraction is the Longshuixia ground fissure, which takes 2 hours and is the most tiring attraction because it is all steps up and down, but the scenery is really good. The developed Tianjingxia Bridge to Huitoushi section in the ground fissure is about 5 kilometers long. There is a plank road from Luojiaping down to the ground fissure, forming a loop. There are many scenic spots in the meantime, and there are many strange karst cave shafts, lingering with countless legends. The rocks on both sides of the road are in various shapes, and on the rock walls, the jungle covers the sky and the sun, and it is about to close. After exiting the ground fissure, there is a scenic bus back to the entrance, which is very convenient. The last attraction is the three natural bridges, which takes 3 hours. You need to walk for a while and then queue up to take the revolving elevator down to the bottom. After the next flight of stairs, you will reach the Tianlong Bridge. (This flight of stairs is very long and really tiring. Older people or children can pay to ride a sedan chair). Wulong Tiankeng has three natural bridges, Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge and Heilong Bridge, and two large tiankengs, Tianlong and Shenying. It forms a geological wonder of "three bridges sandwiched between two pits" with natural bridge holes connecting the pits and tiankengs separating the bridges. Its scale and momentum are unique in the world. It happened to rain from time to time that day, so the mountains were shrouded in clouds and mist, which was more artistic. Among them, the Tianfuguanyi scenic spot was the location for the filming of "Curse of the Golden Flower", and the ancient post station was also left in the pit. If you can bear it, you can climb up to the observation deck and take a complete picture of Tianfuguanyi from top to bottom. There is a Tang Dynasty Post Office theme post office just before the exit, which is very suitable for taking photos and checking in.
After visiting the Longshuixia Ground Crack, I was surprised and thankful that I arrived at the tourist bus parking lot at the exit of the scenic area without climbing the mountain. I had been to the Enshi Grand Canyon and the Malianghe Grand Canyon in Xingyi before. It was quite a hassle to go down and then up to enter and exit the scenic area, which was tiring. When visiting the Tiansheng Three Bridges Scenic Area and the Longshuixia Ground Crack Scenic Area in Wulong, you have to take the elevator down to enter the scenic area. After the tour, you don’t have to climb the mountain. The flat road makes it easy to exit the scenic area, saving physical strength, which is worth celebrating. We set off from the Fairy Town Tourist Service Center at 8:30 in the morning by tourist bus, carefully visited the Tiansheng Three Bridges Scenic Area and the Longshuixia Ground Crack Scenic Area, and returned to the tourist center before 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It was still early and ready to go to another scenic spot, but the tourist center did not have a car to go to other scenic spots, and it was difficult to find a taxi. So I took the blue bus back to Wulong City and visited Wulong County, where the Wujiang River runs through the city. Back in Wulong City, I first want to see the Wujiang River, which I heard of when I was in elementary school. It was the movie "Breaking Wujiang" that made me know it and remember it. Along Furong Middle Road, I was ready to board the Wujiang No. 1 Bridge and cross the Wujiang River. There is a roundabout at the head of the Wujiang No. 1 Bridge, and a sculpture in the center of the roundabout attracted me. At the top of the sculpture, a young man raised his arms high, and below was a dragon column. After checking, it was found that this was the image sculpture "Five Dragons Embracing the Pillar" of Wulong County. Climbing the Wujiang No. 1 Bridge, you can see Wulong City on both sides of the Wujiang River. The Wujiang River is deep, the clear water flows eastward, and there are tall buildings. It is a good river city scenery. On the bridge, I found that a riverside highway was being built on the Wujiang River. In the future, when I come to Wulong again, I can drive on the Wujiang River to enjoy the scenery of the Wujiang River. I met two people of the same age on the road, wearing Zhongshan suits, as if they had traveled through time and space and returned to decades ago. For dinner, I chose mutton, a specialty of Wulong. When it comes to Wulong cuisine, mutton is definitely a major feature. Every now and then, there is a restaurant selling mutton on the roadside. Most of them have mutton in pots. A pot of mutton, a plate of sour radish, a bowl of clear soup, and a bowl of rice are delicious. As night falls, we come to the Wulong Gymnasium, a public facility that is like a miniature version of the Water Cube. Outside the gymnasium, young ladies and old men, young men and women, line up in groups, singing and dancing, entertaining and exercising. The gymnasium is brightly lit, and a basketball game is in full swing. The life of Wulong people is colorful and worth experiencing.
