What people are saying:

A building commemorating the independence of Sri Lanka, there is a statue of the founding father at the door. The memorial hall is a free attraction. There is also a museum below. The museum seems to be charged, and the door was not opened when I went there.

Additional Information

Introduction

On February 4, 1948, in commemoration of Sri Lanka's departure from British colonial rule, the Sri Lankan government built this independent memorial hall built in accordance with the Sinhalese architectural style. A statue of the founding father of Sri Lanka stands in front of the memorial hall. The stone lion and the embossed Independence Hall are engraved with Buddhist motifs on the stone pillars, surrounded by lion statues symbolizing the Sinhalese. There is also a small museum with a relief on the roof, depicting the history of Sri Lanka from independence from the 5th century BC to 1948.
