This was fitting to us as China is now open again to travel, this being our first big trip in a year. After staying on the Shangrila plain the day before, it was magical to see the golden rooftops of the monastery glitter in to view. We hired some Tibetan style clothes for photos, but were most impressed by what we couldn’t capture - the vast and intricate paintings inside each of the temples.
