Don't miss Dujiangyan when you travel to Chengdu! A one-day tour itinerary!
The off-season in Dujiangyan is truly an earthly paradise,
with not too many people, making it a great place for taking beautiful photos.
It's perfect for a day trip from Chengdu by high-speed train 🚄,
especially for friends who are visiting Chengdu.
I suggest you definitely set aside one day
for a pilgrimage to the water conservancy project of Dujiangyan.
🚅 Departing from Chengdu Xipu, a high-speed train to Lidui Park Station in Dujiangyan costs only 10 yuan, and it takes just over twenty minutes to get there.
(ps: Dujiangyan Station is a bit farther, so remember to buy a ticket to Lidui Park Station)
First stop: Selfie with a Panda 🐼
Right after coming out of Lidui Park is the popular selfie 🤳🏻 spot with the super cute lying-down giant pandas, where you can take a photo with them.
Second stop: Guanxian Ancient Town
Opposite the selfie spot with the giant panda is Guanxian Ancient Town, where there are many special snacks like fried potatoes, sweet wine rice balls, scallion rolls, soy milk buns... all delicious!
Third stop: Dujiangyan Scenic Area
You really must visit the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, where the scenery throughout is particularly beautiful. Recommended tour route: Qinyan Tower — Erwang Temple — Anlan Suspension Bridge — Fish Mouth — Feisha Weir — Baopingkou — Fulong Temple.
When visiting the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, besides walking and enjoying the scenery, it is also highly recommended not to miss the 'Furong Essence · Shangshan Dujiangyan' performance in the scenic area, a stunning large-scale immersive stage drama with the legend, history, culture, and folklore of the ancient Dujiangyan as the narrative background.
It is divided into 'Ancient Weir Legend', 'Water-Born Tea Fragrance', 'Marketplace Variety', 'Inquiry of Dance and Fans', 'Millennium Change', 'Water Worship and Blessing', which recreates the legendary history of Li Bing and his son leading the construction of the ancient weir 2,279 years ago, and also integrates many Sichuan characteristic performances, such as Sichuan Opera face-changing. After watching it, you really feel it's very exciting and totally worth the ticket price.
The ticket for the Dujiangyan Scenic Area and the Furong Essence · Shangshan Dujiangyan performance are separate. There are two performances each day, one at 11 am and the other at 3 pm, each lasting about fifty minutes.
Fourth stop: Wenmiao Mountain Street
After coming out of the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, you can stroll around the old street of Wenmiao Mountain Street~ There are many retro items here, and it's great for taking photos and checking in.
Fifth stop: South Bridge
You should definitely come and enjoy the evening breeze at South Bridge, which is even more beautiful when the lights are on after dark. With the recent weather, around 7:30 pm, you can see the stunningly beautiful 'Blue Tears'.
After watching the 'Blue Tears', you can have dinner near South Bridge, and then take the high-speed train 🚄 directly back to Chengdu~ The last train 🚄 is at 21:55, which is totally manageable.

Dujiangyan, located in Chengxi, Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, . It is a masterpiece of ancient water conservancy projects. It still plays an important role in agricultural irrigation and flood control in Chengdu Plain. It is composed of the canal head hub (yuzui, Feisha, Baopingkou), the irrigation area at all levels of water diversion channels, various types of engineering buildings and large, medium and small reservoirs, etc., and is a huge engineering system. Dujiangyan is not only the pearl of ancient Chinese scientific and technological civilization, but also the water conservancy epic in the list of world cultural heritage, showing the wisdom and tenacity of the ancients.
If you're on to adventure and hiking, this is really fit for you, because you have to climb such trailing stairs in order for you to enjoy the overwhelming view of it. There are so many attractions too to enjoy there. It was a nice experience!
The millennium project has so far guarded a city, which is still worth seeing. Its grandeur makes future generations have to feel the wisdom of our ancients. I also went to see the video explanation before I knew the historical events behind it. I was very impressed.
Yang Min's guide explained the origin of Dujiangyan patiently, meticulously, and in detail. He introduced the four or six diversions, and 28 points of sand. The introduction of fish mouth and treasure bottle mouth was particularly clear. He also explained Li Bing's contribution to Chengdu and even Sichuan Earth. Thank you very much for meeting such a tour guide.
The scenery is beautiful, the blue sky, the trees all over the mountains, like a green sea
