After traveling from York to Edinburgh, even though it was almost dusk, I decided to head straight to Calton Hill. There's no other reason than that Calton Hill, along with Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, forms a perfect triangle on the city's skyline. Even though it's only 103m above sea level, you can get a glimpse of the entire city. Many classic photos of Edinburgh come from here, and even the movies Cloud Atlas and One Day were filmed here, as well as Jay Chou's music video "Ming Ming Jiu". Calton Hill itself is also part of the World Heritage Site "Edinburgh New and Old Town". The name comes from the Gaelic word "choille-dun", which means "wooded hill", which is not surprising, since it used to be part of the royal hunting grounds. The small hill is not difficult to climb and can be reached in 10 minutes. During my busiest month, I picked a weekend and went to Edinburgh alone for a getaway. Escaping work, I felt like I could finally breathe. Edinburgh isn't big; the main attractions are mostly concentrated around Waverley Station, so two days and one night are enough. The result of staying for three days was climbing Calton Hill four times. ▪️P1/8/9 Calton Hill If you can get up early, there will be fewer messy colorful lights in the morning. ▪️P2/5/6 Waverley Bridge ▪️P3/4 National Museum of Scotland Overall, it's more geared towards children, but the exhibition design is beautiful. The terrace can be accessed from the elevator or stairs in the innermost room on the fifth floor. ▪️P7 National Galleries of Scotland Here's a quick review of a few restaurants I tried: ▪️Duck & Waffle Fried duck leg with waffle is indeed hard to make taste bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. For 25 pounds, I think it's better to go to Jollibee and eat fried chicken until you're full. ▪️Howies The Haggis was a bit better than I expected, but the main course fish was so ordinary it felt like cafeteria food. For local cuisine, The Scran and Scallie might be a better choice, but unfortunately, I booked too late. ▪️The Kitchin Couldn't get a reservation at Lyla, so I booked this one. I tolerated the mediocre taste of the first two places, but I didn't expect a Michelin-starred restaurant to be like this. All the dishes were merely 'not bad,' with no surprises or creativity whatsoever, and the presentation was even a bit rough. Aside from the decent service and price, I couldn't find anything that justified its Michelin star.

They skillfully wielded flames, spinning long rods in the air, with the firelight drawing beautiful arcs in the night sky, leaving the audience in awe. I truly fall in love with Edinburgh's sunsets again and again. It's just that the weather has been really cold lately. My head is buzzing from the cold every day. Calton Hill is definitely worth a visit. You can overlook the panoramic view of Edinburgh. A kind person wrote an "easy way" sign at the uphill entrance. Following it, you'll reach the summit quickly. My only regret is not getting on the Sunset Roller Coaster. Because on the day I planned to go, the Sunset Roller Coaster was closed for debugging/testing at sunset.
