Spring Blossoms in Zhucheng: A Cherry Blossom Journey at Riverside Park and Zhucheng Square
When the spring breeze sweeps through Guiyang, Riverside Park and Zhucheng Square transform into a sea of pink. Every year from March to April, the early and late cherry blossoms bloom in succession here, ranging from tender pink clouds to rare pale green, painting the most enchanting spring scene in the main city. Staying at the Hanting Hotel Shilihetan Wetland Park allows you to quietly enjoy the tranquility of Huaxi Wetland while conveniently heading to this urban cherry blossom rendezvous, perfect for both flower viewing and relaxation.
Setting off from the Hanting Hotel early in the morning, you can drive or take the subway and reach Riverside Park in about half an hour. This long-established park in Guiyang holds gentle memories of the old city in its cherry blossoms. The early cherry blossoms are light and pure white, adorning the branches; by April, the late cherry blossoms are in full bloom, with layers of pink and white petals bending the branches, resembling pink clouds resting on trees from afar. Sunlight filters through the blossoms, casting a golden shimmer on the ground. A gentle breeze scatters falling petals, and as you stroll along the flower path, the faint fragrance lingers at your nose, accompanied by the laughter of children and the soft sounds of the Ferris wheel. Every step is immersed in the romance of spring. Beneath the flowering trees, visitors pause to take photos or gently pick up fallen petals, capturing these fleeting moments of beauty.
Leaving Riverside Park and walking along the Nanming River for a short while, you arrive at Zhucheng Square. Known as Guiyang’s “urban living room,” the cherry blossoms here add a touch of grandeur and elegance. Along the riverside walkway, dozens of late cherry trees bloom passionately, their clusters of pink and white flowers closely packed, harmonizing beautifully with the flowing river. Petals drift down into the water, gently rippling with the current, creating a poetic scene. Even more surprising is the rare Yujin Sakura quietly blooming on the Ruijin South Road side of the square. Known as the “giant panda” of cherry blossoms, this ancient variety has petals that are pale green with a hint of red, and a reddish blush at the flower’s center. Under the sunlight, they sparkle with crystal clarity, their unique colors standing out among the cherry blossoms, attracting many visitors to stop and take photos.
In the square, the “Golden Lusheng” sculpture and the Twenty-Four Solar Terms pillars stand tall, entwined lightly with cherry blossom branches. Traditional architecture blends with the spring blossoms, combining the solemnity of city landmarks with the gentle beauty of blooming flowers. Walking slowly along the riverside, one side is the shimmering Nanming River, the other an endless stretch of cherry blossoms. In the distance, the vermilion beams and green tiles of Jiaxiu Tower are faintly visible, composing a breathtaking picture of “the city in flowers, flowers by the river.” Open all day with no admission fee, you can step into this sea of blossoms anytime and experience Guiyang’s unique springtime charm.
Beyond cherry blossom viewing, the surrounding area offers a string of delicious food and attractions. Qingyun Market is nearby, where you can find a dazzling array of Guiyang specialties like silk-wrapped rolls, grilled tofu, and sour soup beef. After a day of exploring, indulge in these local treats to your heart’s content. In the evening, return to the Hanting Hotel Shilihetan Wetland Park, which offers a clean and comfortable environment with attentive service. Adjacent to Shilihetan Wetland, the hotel provides a peaceful and quiet night, allowing you to unwind from the day’s flower viewing and enjoy the serene nightscape of Huaxi.
Guiyang’s spring is hidden in the falling cherry blossoms of Riverside Park and blended in the Yujin Sakura of Zhucheng Square. From Huaxi Wetland to the banks of the Nanming River, from a tranquil hotel to the bustling city center, this cherry blossom journey connects natural beauty with urban vitality, making the most of springtime and this unforgettable trip.
Other visitors' reviews of Riverside Park
Show More Reviews20220510: 1. There is a direct bus in the city, and admission is free. Strictly speaking, it is a public leisure park, not a scenic spot. 2. Enter the park from the northeast gate, and it only takes 1 hour to go around counterclockwise. The west half is a green leisure area, and the east half is a playground. Although it is mid-week, there are many children in the playground, which seems very popular. 3. In addition to the high-value central flowerbed, there are no other eye-catching landscapes in the park. The elderly enjoy their retirement time in every corner of the park. The park as a whole gives people a quiet and peaceful feeling.
