Eight Sights of Longjing

"Eight Views of Longjing" is located in the valley in the northeast of Longjing Temple, bounded by Longjing Road in the northwest, connected with the West Lake Scenic Spot in the north, and at the foot of the South Peak in the southeast. The so-called eight scenic spots refer to "Fenghuang Ridge, Guoxi Pavilion, Dixin Marsh, One Cloud, Fangyuan Temple, Longhong Stream, Shenyun Stone and Cuifeng Pavilion". Qianlong visited Longjing four times successively, and each time he inscribed the eight scenes, and the eight scenes were famous all over the world. Longhongjian is one of the four mother streams of the West Lake. It runs down from the Longjing Temple, runs through the scenic spot all the way, and then merges into the West Lake. According to legend, when Qianlong visited this time in the south, he once stayed beside the stream pavilion. In the Qianlong Poetry Stele Gallery, there are 32 poems of "Eight Songs of Longjing" integrated by Qianlong's four tours to Longjing, including some of Qianlong's imperial pens. The 100-meter-long wooden stele corridor is divided into 4 sections, and "Longjing Ba Yong" is carved on the blue-gray Beijing bricks in the corridor. Fangyuan Nunnery used to be the place where the monk Bencai lived in the Northern Song Dynasty. The stone wall beside the nunnery has been engraved with Mi Fu's inscription and Qin Guan's "Longjing Ji".
