Herrenhausen Garden

The Great Garden of Hanover is one of the famous European Baroque gardens. The Duke of Calenberg started building the garden as early as 1638. Over the past three centuries, the owners of the garden have changed dynasties, and the garden has been remodeled and expanded to a great extent. In the mid-17th century, the garden was only half its current size. It was not until 1714 that the then-elector Madame Sophia of Hanover remodeled it in the Baroque style of Lower Saxony and expanded it to 50 hectares, which is the size of today.
