What travelers say:

According to historical records, Dayun Temple was built in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty and was destroyed by Bingxuan in the early Ming Dynasty. The new temple was built in the west gate during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The first archway at the west gate of Shangzhou, there used to be an ancient theater on the opposite side, but no longer exists. This ancient archway is the only ancient wooden archway in Shangzhou city, and it has a high cultural value. After consulting the Qing Dynasty Luo Siwen's "Continued Shangzhou History" and other materials, experts concluded that the archway is at least 250 years old.
