What travelers say:

Phaya Temple is located on the edge of the Big Buddha Beach on Koh Samui. It is actually an independent island. It is also the largest temple in the entire Koh Samui area. It has a large area and contains many exaggerated Buddha statues or deities. And the colors are also very gorgeous. There are many tourists and believers here. Everyone prays for your blessings here. It is a famous scenic spot on Koh Samui. Don't miss it.

Additional Information

Wat Phra Yai is also known as the Big Buddha Temple. It is famous due to a 15-meters tall golden Buddha statue inside. The temple is located on Koh Fan, near Bang Rak Beach. Originally there wasn't a road between the beach and the temple. Later a road was constructed by building a causeway on the sea and people were more easily able to come to the temple. This grand temple that is dedicated to the Buddha is situated on the top of the mountain. From a high vantage point visitors can see the oceans and islands around. It is a very fantastic view.
